General update for the summer of 2014. Bugs, Area 51 and a new piece of music from the soundtrack.

Posted by on

Hello all!

Welcome to our July update.

Over the last two months, we've been steadily working away without too much to talk about. People have come and gone from vacations, and development continues. We've been getting a fair amount of feedback from our playtesters, and are working to solve the bugs and issues that they have reported. We've also been getting feedback on the soundtrack, and while the response has been broadly positive, there have been some valid concerns about a few specific tracks, and we have been addressing those as well.

For those of you who are interested, we've moved to an online bug-tracking service; if you'd like to take a look at the issues we're working to solve and get a sense of what we're doing behind the scenes, check it out here: Bugs.launchpad.net. It is updated regularly and shows the issues we are encountering and fixing, as we encounter and fix them.

In recent weeks we've also been running a pair of articles on the Eidos Montréal community blog. These two articles serve as a general introduction to Revision, and go into some depth on the process of creating the new soundtrack. We have a third article planned, so keep an eye out for it in the coming weeks. Our thanks go out to Sacha R. and John T. at Eidos Montréal for being kind enough to make this happen.

The Music of Revision

We have a couple more things to share with you this month:

First, a look at our Area 51 overhaul, which (on the surface, at least) takes a few cues from Deus Ex: Human Revolution's Panchaea location.

Area 51 Surface

Second, we have our Battery Park exploration music:

That about covers everything for the moment. Enjoy!

I'm blow away. I was really worried about the soundtrack, that you guys were going to try something completely new. Reworking the existing soundtrack is great.

I love the new battery park theme

It's a bit hard to commit to an actual date at this time. We'll know more once A51 is done and everything is ready to be sent out for final testing.

* reply to above comment * Considering A51, the testing of the whole 15 chapters, the bug-fixes, other general additions that need to be done to the mod and making sure that everything is 100% perfect... I'd say maybe late-2014?

I don't know how the Revision team was going to aim for a May 12 release :o

We are always a bit to optimistic, and then stuff like real life happens. Currently Trasher is working on the A51 levels and I do some occational bugfixing (I'm a bit busy with school at the moment as well). That's the major holdups atm, getting A51 done and bugs fixed. There are some music stuff left and some datavaults/textures left as well, but they are not really halting progress, when those gets done it's just as simple as to drop them into the correct folders.
