Welcome to the first Half-Life: WAR Progress Update of 2022! First of all i wish you all a late happy new year, and second of all, this update will contain a lot of cool new stuff, including new models, a new map, and more! So let's get started!
#1 - Maps!
First for this i'm going to show some new shots of the finished version of M2L1 (Mission 2 Level 1), complete with great terrain done by Admer456, HLW's Terrain artist.
Hope you like how this looks!
Now i'm going to show you a new map i've been working on for this month, M2L2!
Everybody loves sewer levels, so i'm making one for this mod - but don't worry, it won't be bad. I promise :D Don't forget to add this one to your sewer count.
Also you might've noticed a few cool things in those shots like lens flares and tracer splashes, i'm gonna talk about that later in the article.
That's it for the new map stuff, now let's move on to the next thing!
#2 - Models!
CRAZY RASPUTIN MONK HAMBURGER, HLW's modeller has made a model for the mod's new weapon - the M14!
Hope you like it, cause i think it looks pretty good.
Also, i've made a model for HLW's new NPC - a Police Officer!
Police Officers will show up in the city levels, and they will be able to assist you sometimes.
Well, that's it for model stuff, now let's get to others!
#3 - Other cool stuff
Who doesn't love lens flares? Well, i sure do, so i've implemented cool looking lens flares to the mod. Some grunts in dark areas will use flashlights on their gun, which will produce a cool lens flare, so watch out for them! Of course, credit goes to the Half-Life: Invasion Team for the code, i've modified the code a bit and made new sprites for them.
A new entity - env_splash! It's basically the env_smoke_emitter (that i showed off in the last progress update), however it emits tracer splashes! You can see it in action in some of the M2L2 screenshots i showed above.
Now - here's a really cool thing, Headshots! That's right, if you headshot a grunt with enough damage, their head will come off! Here's a video of that feature in action:
Jay! from the HLW Discord server has contributed code for the headshots, so all credit goes to her.
And now finally, here's one last cool thing before this update is finished, difficulty based spawns! Remember how in Doom or Quake or other shooters of that time, certain items or npc spawns would only show up on specific difficulties? Well, i've implemented this system to the mod! So, keep an eye out for that once the mod eventually gets released :D
#4 - The end
Well, this is the end of this update, hope you've liked all this stuff i've shown! This mod has been getting a lot of progress lately, and, i'm not making any promises, but i'm aiming to have the mod finished by the end of 2022. I'll see you all in the next update!

This a really cool mod, I got to play it a little bit and I loved it. I look forward to this very much because I think it would be fun to make maps for!
