Two years ago, our tabletop campaign hit a scheduling snag, leading our DM to suggest an innovative twist: we'd continue our characters' tales through video games. And so began our foray into the captivating world of game development.
Hailing from diverse IT backgrounds (Functional Analyst, QA), our trio embraced this uncharted territory. With basic programming knowledge, our DM dived in. The second member, an audio-video enthusiast, donned the QA and sound mantle. As for me, I brought 3D expertise to the mix.
Amidst post-job lockdown, we dedicated ourselves to our project. Our game evolved, shaping up for an early access debut on Steam. A candid confession: novices in marketing, we learned by doing – don't launch games sans a community.
We made a splash at Thegdwc.com in 2021, securing the coveted "Best Game" award. Buoyed by the accolades, we fine-tuned our creation, forging ahead to EVA 2022. Positive reviews flowed in, a small yet steadfast community rallied, cheering every early access update.
Two years have elapsed since that fateful subquest by our DM, uniting us in a grander narrative. As we near the end of Early Access, destiny led me here, sharing our odyssey.
