Greetings strangers! (and also not strangers ;)
I'm happy to announce, that after three years of development, full version of the mod is finally here! Never thought I could manage to make the idea real. That I could do what I like and be so successful. You know, I'm just a regular guy who likes to play games and modify the most favourite one of them. I'd like to thank you all for your support, for your coments and help.
What's this mod about? First I'd like to mention, it's a mod which respects the original game. It evolves the aspects of vanilla. It doesn't make the game completely different, instead, it makes the game deeper, more subtile. You won't find any new or modified uniques, sets, runes, runewords. But you'll encounter new monsters, new crafting system, new locations, new gems, new quests, new challenges.

Are you a Diablo 2 veteran? Then this is the right mod for you. Or at least, you can give it a try :)
I'm about to write something more about new end-game system. Until then, you can see some screens:
Thank you for your support and wish you happy playing :)
Congratz, you deserve a pat on the back for finishing it. Now the IsAlive expansion :D (ofcourse you can take a break before beginning on it :p)
Thank you for the imaginary pat on the back :D
Yeah, the expansion... I'll take a short break, but still... many ideas about skills and other things I'd like to have in the expansion just keep coming to my mind :D
Thank you for your efforts!! Great Mod!
Thank you :)
Are you supposed to get <40 xp per kill from level 3? Getting from 4 to 5 is literally a 40 minute grind. Nedless to say starting/playing a "caster" (lol jk, no mana for spells. Have fun looking like an idiot with your scepter) in the current state is a ****** experience
You'll get nothing for free in this mod. If you want a mod that makes the original game easier, you should probably look for a drop mod...
I never said I wanted something easy - in fact I've played most of the hard d2 mods out there and had tons of fun with them. What Im saying is that if I pick a caster then it means that I really wanna play a caster - not a (terribly weak) melee-with-no-skills-to-support-the-style for the fist 5? 10? hours
I get what you mean. The truth is, playing a caster hasn't a quick start, even in vanilla. You need to get some levels / access to some stronger skills to make them powerful with spells (and that's nothing new). By the way, have you tried gemwords? :) It's really helpful when starting a new character ;)
The thing about vanilla is that the start is so quick and easy that it doesn't really matter - in your mod the progression is slowed so much down (and the difficulty increased) that it matters a lot. You can have 95% of your mod as hard as you want, but if you refuse to provide any tools to the caster early game I really recommend lowering the difficulty in the zones up to darkwood and you can keep the rest of the game untouched.
Alternatively give way more xp so level ~10 is fairly quickly reached.
I made the game difficult (especially in the beginning), because I like it that way. But still, it's not as hardcore as Zy-El (though, I really like the beginning in Zy-El). Act 1 takes a while to complete, with both caster or melee (/missile) character. But it's a great space for testing all mechanics - bosses and scrolls, crafting, quests... people who haven't played this mod before see immediately, what is this mod about. Caster characters are my favourite and I know, it's not that impossible or extremely hard to get over first act with decent level. I know, you can't be a pure caster in the beginning. But that's not a mistake, it's supposed to be this way...
"testing mechanics" = not playing the play style you're gonna play once you actually get levels.
GL with your mod. You're definitely gonna need it.
Well, I would say play differently. The classic builds don't work very much, you have to change your build / strategy / equipment against some monsters, you have to assimilate. If you want to play the same build against everything (from the beginning to the end), then I'm afraid this is not a mod for you...
Thanks by the way, wish you happy playing (whatever you choose to play) ;)
Is there a video available showing off the new features?
I checked the video section but its full of random stuff. Also checked Youtube and you haven't updated that in a year.
Not yet. Hope I'll get to it soon :)
What version of the game will this require and be compatible with?
> Like is this playable with the current 1.13c?
> Will it require a separate install of D2LOD for Bnet players?
You can use any version you want. Just download and install D2SE, extract the mod, copy the folder 'IsAlive' into 'MODS' in your Diablo 2 folder. You don't have install the game one more time, it won't affect the original game in any way, which means you still can play on battle.net ;)
Love the mod. I have lots to learn!
It's just in the beginning. Once you understand the basic principles (of crafting and other game mechanisms), you find it's actually very intuitive. Good luck and wish you happy playing ;)
I have downloaded D2SE & place 'IsALive' into the 'MODS' folder. However when i click start plugin when selecting 'IsAlive', D2SE just close and nothing pop up. My diablo 2 is currently v1.13c. What do I have to do ?
Which operating system do you use? Does your D2SE works with original diablo patches?
