Post news Report RSS Blade of Agony | "The game is too hard!" - we have a solution.

Blade of Agony Chapter 2 has been released about one week ago and the feedback has been very amazing so far. Still we noticed that some people have a problem with the difficulty curve of the maps and stated this in their reviews on ModDB, that's why I am writing this news issue. So what can be done?

Blade of Agony Chapter 2 has been released about one week ago and the feedback has been very amazing so far. Still we noticed that some people have a problem with the difficulty curve of the maps and stated this in their reviews on ModDB, that's why I am writing this news issue. So what can be done?

The first option you have is to play on a weaker difficulty setting (for example "Morgenspaziergang") if the one you have chosen is too hard. Also think of Blade of Agony as a less arcade-style shooter than Doom itself. There is still a lot of action going on but you are not a super-powerful space marine, so enemies are supposed to be more of a danger than Imps or Zombiemen are. Next to that you have the possibility to deactivate the flinch when being hurt as well as activating "full stamina" all the time through the BOA OPTIONS. Both are more like "ingame cheat options" but it is at least something that we have made possible to access for you.

If you are still in trouble we'd suggest watching pagb666's brillaint Let's Play videos showcasing all secrets and an excellent walkthrough through all episodes - Chapter 1 | Chapter 2. They give you a very good idea where to find secrets and how the mod is supposed to be played - forward-looking and thoroughly :)

By any chance we'd be happy if you consider the skill settings in your reviews if one of the weaker ones fit better to your playing-style. Thanks kindly and - stay psyched!

Only thing i disabled was flinching. It got annoying too quickly. Are you also looking into fixing quick saving and quick loading?

Hey Maggy, thanks for your feedback. Can you exactly describe what the problem with quick save/load is?

I found the solution to the difficulty: Lots more bullets, and lots more dead nazi's. (results may vary)

I'm being sarcastic of course. However, what I did find difficult to retain was ammunition, even at the start of chapter 1. What I did was turn on "double ammo" and "drop weapon", and that aided my playthrough quite well. I did make attempts to turn it off, just to challeng myself, however it was still the same thing. So I had to keep it on for the entire playthrough.

Also, I would like to say I noticed your references, and different uses of textures from games that are from my childhood! So I my inner childhood is giddy and thoroughly enjoyed everything I could find! Dark Forces, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, I even saw a texture and model from Jedi Outcast! I really enjoyed your game. Keep up the great work!

Also, don't feel too bad about the game being hard for some people. Putting myself in your shoes, I can understand how it's hard to balance everything.

I know this is a late reply TheJones but thank you for your feedback!
Well we have already improved ammo balance actually during Chapter 3 development and still going through it, so expect a better gameplay in general for future release.
And yes the mod is span with several easter-eggs or hidden crazy referencies eheh

Which version did you two downloaded, standalone or just the file with the pk3? If that's the case, get this version of GZDoom Zdoom.org , unzip it, copy boa pk3 inside the unzipped folder of such sourceport, cooy then your doom2.wad inside it and hover boa_c2.pk3 onto gzdoom.exe. Then have fun!

Only things that hard for me - rolling balls of death.
I really hate those parts.

Being a person still in school and in the household of my parents, Blade of Agony is a big source of relief for me when it comes to boredom.

However, due to my laptop not being entirely my own, I find that my Father thinks it's OK to delete Blade of Agony off of my computer, usually when I near completion of a difficult section. This has happened quite a few times, and it's a source of extreme frustration for me, as each time it's deleted I become languid and start the next episode, as I don't want to have to restart the chapter and redo all of my progress. I completed episode one, moved on to episode two, escaped the prison, and then my game was deleted. I redownloaded the game about a month later, started episode 3, beat the camp, collected all of the evidence required to start that one section, and then moved on to the second mission of the episode.

I am not particularly skilled at this game, even though I play on normal difficulty, and I feel like it would be beneficial to be able to skip episodes or to find a way to restore my progress, though I doubt that's possible. Is there a solution to my woes?

Yours Truly,

Texnicolor
