Post news RSS Battlegroup42 1.6 - New Statics

Hallo and welcome to another Battlegroup42 news update, we hope you all had a good Easter! This time we focus on statics - something that easily stays unnoticed with all the eye candy our new vehicles provide. Of course - players can´t do anything with statics - they are just there. But they are of great importance for a maps atmosphere and give it a unique look. And last but not least - they need hard work to create, too.

For the upcoming version 1.6 of Battlegroup42 Bommel and Sarge31FR again went down in the cellars of different FTP-servers and created a bunch of new exciting statics from the many unfinished and forgotten material they found there. Many of those models came from the workbenches of Koricus, others came from the scrapyard of BGF, and some were made completely new for BG42. Since there is not much else to say about the statics, we decided to let the pictures speak for themselves. Our screenshots show you some of the new statics as they can be found ingame.

The DRB 52 was the most-well known of the German "war locomotives" and was built in large numbers during WW2. They were mainly used on the Eastern Front and has a claim to being one of the most numerous steam locomotive classes in the world. The DRB 52 could haul 4,000 tons at 80km/h without significant strain. Our model has been created by Wyvern for BGF and was textured by Tha Godfather. The bomb carrier, here shown in its german flavour, is a generic design created by Bommel. There are also british, japanese, soviet and american versions of it, as well as a torpedo carrier.

That´s all for today. As always, we are looking for new team members to support our future plans which we cannot told to the public yet. Especially we are looking for programmers, modellers, skinners ans unwrappers. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join us at www.battlegroup42.de..

Nice Work guys! Keep it coming! I would like to suggest for each static done you should make two or more statics of damage or destroyed in various sides of the buiding thus increasing the amount of statics and uses of them according each Map Scenario.
I am looking forward for the release of the new version 1.6 of BG42!

Yepp, that would be really nice but we still lack some manpower to build everything we would like to integrate into BG42.

The problem is at the aged Refractor II engine a moveable train causes much lag during online gaming but hopefully we find a acceptable solution for this problem.

I'm not sure but i think there is a way to make it work better, like have the train have an animated path for following the rails, have the collision model follow that path. Sort of similar to how the higgins boat has an animated ramp.

I love you! I never thought I would see a steam locomotive in BF1942 let alone an authentic one! I was tired of seeing boxcar after boxcar! ARG!
