Despite the bumps, we have managed to keep on pushing forward (even if it's an inch at a time). We are finally glad to say that progress is picking up the pace thanks to our new coder Mecha the slag.
We are currently sorting out our code so we can get our new main man up to speed and finally working on getting a playable alpha then beta versions. In most of our other departments work will unfortunately still be halted (for the most part) until our code is more complete.
Mecha already made some work ! While OneEyed progressed on the kart code (it's looking promising), Mecha worked on item management and balloons. He's implementing the green shell, which has been reworked. The new shell model is outstanding !
Expect to see some great advances coming soon.

nice to hear from this mod again, it is not always easy to keep working hard. modding takes a huge amount of time and effort and not many people understand how much it actualy takes. guess you have to mod yourself to get the full impacked of that.

I'm making everything I can to get this mod out, and it's really hard. I was originally a mapper but I'm now leading the mod, searching people, compiling models and maybe learning how to create particles to get more progress :p And I still do maps.

Looks good. But I have a few tips:
Add Bump Mapping to the Shells, make them look bumpy. Some Bump Mapping on the Roads and Tires would look great as well.
Don't be afraid to forget the Nintendo artstyle, and instead take full advantage of the Source Engine.

Mecha's a pretty good coder. I used to play that TF2ware sourcemod he made.
you really should give this game better texture and lighting, people actually like games better when the grafics are good, nintendo has made alot of bad business choices since snes, and making kids games with crappy grafics was thier biggest mistake (crappy grafics on purpose i might add) this is why nintendos sales are down by more than 50 percent.
You're wrong. Mario always got that visual style, and I agree with that. It's a specific mark of Mario games. A realistic Mario would completely ruin the game for me. The day Nintendo will start to make Mario games with realistic graphics will be the day I will stop playing Mario games.
