Greetings all,
As promised, here it is - now fully available for download, Ages of the Federation v1.02!
We hope you'll find 1.02 to be somewhat of an improvement over 1.01, and that it helps ease the wait for 2.0. But most of all we hope that you enjoy playing it.
Hobbs and Echo in particular have worked hard to eradicate as many of the glaring issues that we felt held Ages of the Federation back at release, most notably the AI's spamming of carrier ships, as well as a number of other issues that affected the gameplay experience.
Versions 1.0 and 1.01 were released early in the pandemic without the level of polish we'd normally have aspired to. The hope at the time was to maybe help bring our players some cheer suring a hard and uncertain time. Even so, leaving Ages of the Federation in such a state was always something that bothered us.
As we are a small team, work on the final release of Aramda 3 and laying the groundwork for Ages of the Federation 2 kept us from returning to AOTF1 for a time, and when we did return our sights were set on a full-blown re-release, rebuilding the mod from the ground up. With our excitement for this project and our commitment to only releasing 'complete' works, unfortunately a long time has passed without a release from Stellar Parallax. This is an issue that has been weighing on us lately. We very much appreciate your support and enthusiasm, and especially your patience.
But we also know that appreciation can only go so far - sometimes such patience needs to be rewarded. And so we went about setting up 1.02, both as a thank you and a promise that yes, we're still working.
Once again, just to manage expectations, I'd like to emphasise that this is not the re-release. The new factions, mechanics and upgraded PBR visuals are not included in 1.02. We are willing, however, to confirm that we are aiming for a holiday release, and given our current state or development that goal is looking very achievable.
Thanks again, ladies and gents. Please enjoy Ages of the Federation 1.02. We'll be back very soon with the re-release.
Until then, be good. But not too good.

Some great changes and QoL updates! One QoL thing I'm puzzled about with AOTF though is the inability to set the Starfleet 'Yorktown' type to autocast Colonize? Obviously Colony capitals can autocast that in the base game and STA3, and its been a while since I played non-Starfleet in AOTF, but I seem to remember the other factions in this mod could autocast Colonize on their first capital ship, so is the Yorktown not having autocast on that an oversight yet to be fixed or a deliberate choice?
A lot of the abilities were left off auto in the initial version as a deliberate choice to make the game more tactical. Not sure why this particular one was.
We're not looking at doing a 1.03 release before the 2.00 rebuild drops but if there are a significant number of other issues we discover than we might end up doing it.
Yeah, I certainly wasn't expecting a 1.03, just wanted to clarify that particular thing. Thanks for answering.
One thing I have noticed is that not all ships benefit from from the antimatter passive regen, the few I can think off of the top of my head are the Constitution class, the Vuclan ship you can get from the "used frigates" minor faction, same with one of the Klingon ships you get from the same minor faction, the Kumari class vessels, there are a few others, I just can't remember them off the top of my head.

The effort was absolutely appreciated!
