It’s update time once again and boy do we have a big one today. However, before we get to that Point of Existence is currently hiring staff in the positions of modeling and skinning in preparation for our move to BattleField 2. So, if you think you have the right stuff, drop us a line.
Now onto the fun stuff. A few weeks back in an interview with Battlefieldvietnam.Filefront we said Point of Existence 0.4 would include a 3rd army. There has been speculation as to what this army would be on the forums, however today we will put that to rest. Point of Existence 0.4 will include the Sudanese forces. With this there will be several new maps where Sudan will be facing off with the Americans. If there’s any doubt who the Sudan forces will be fighting with it, it is the Russians. In the coming weeks we will be showing off the equipment that the Sudan forces will be using. Today we have a small preview of that. What you can expect to see for the Sudan forces is a mix of weapons from around the world. Sudan will get equipment from Russia, China, South Africa, Poland and much more. It is essentially a melting pot of weapons.
For spec ops and sniper class the side arm of choice for the new Sudan forces is the Pb69p based off the famous Makarov PM. With a built in silencer and a 12 round magazine of 9x18mm rounds it’s a force to be reckoned with.
Next we have the Type63 107mm Rocket artillery. This can be used to stop any unwanted US troops trying to attack its position. With a total of 24 107mm rockets it can lay down a lot of fire.
Lastly today for Sudan forces we have the Mi17Hip. This is one of the world’s most common helicopters and in PoE it will be serving in an attack role with four rocket pods and two 23mm gun pods. With firepower like this the Mi17 makes up for its lack of speed and maneuverability.
Now onto some new toys for Russia and the United states.
The Ah-6/Mh-6 little bird is one of the most requested things in the world, with the amount of people who suggested this in the forums it would be insane not to include it. The Mh-6 is capable of carrying 4 armed soldiers on its skids for quick insertions in nearly every situation. The Ah-6 is an armed version with two M134 mini-guns and two seven-tube 2.75 inch rocket launchers the Ah-6 can provide close air support for troops under fire and make for a quick getaway before anyone knows it was there.
Next we have the Btr80 and Btr80a. The Btr-80’s are a perfect counter to the Lav-25 series of vehicles currently in game. The Btr80 will come in a number of configurations; the two shown here are assault versions, both armed with a driver, gunner and 4 armed troops you can take the fight to the enemy. Look forward to see more variants in the future.
The mighty Sa17 Grizzly armed with four massive missiles is to be feared by all. The new improved onboard SnowDrift radar capable of tracking and destroying 4 targets at once makes it a severe threat to any aircraft in the air; with new vehicles like this pilots will be running for their life.
What’s a game without a Mercedes Benz 600? I’ll tell you what it is not: a very fun one. The Mercedes will make appearances on many urban maps as a civilian transport.
Lastly today we have quite a bit of camo variants that will be in 0.4. As well as various new little toys like the Deployable Kornet anti tank rocket system. Next we have the M2A3 Tusk which is an up-armored M2A3 making it less vulnerable to infantry attacks. We have also decided to include a rocket version of the Su-39; armed with 50 rockets it rains down fire on anything in its crosshair.
That’s all for today. We hope everyone enjoyed what we had to show and stop by our forums and post any comments and suggestions.
