ESPIONAGE: A STEALTH ACTION MOD FOR HALF-LIFE 2

Now that the SDK has been released, the time has come for the first public unveiling of Espionage, a new stealth-focused mod currently in development for Half-Life 2.

Espionage is a team-based, multiplayer only game that allows players to choose between two teams, each with drastically different roles.

The first team focuses on stealth; they value hiding in the shadows over running-and-gunning. Two examples of the various units players may choose from are:

Infiltration
The primary attack unit for his team, the Infiltration soldier has the most advanced mastery of stealth available; Specializes in disposing of an enemy in a swift, intelligent, and silent manner.

Hacker
As a non-combat role, the Hacker is still a valuable asset to his team. With the ability to hack into enemy defenses, he can gather intelligence on the enemy and/or disable their security systems, making the job easier for his teammates inside.

In contrast, the other team puts their stock in firepower. With superior weapons, explosives, and other traps they will keep their opponents on their toes at all times. A sample of roles for this team include:

Patrol
The patrol unit searches areas for intruders, and if found, deals with them. If help is needed, the soldier can give a signal to teammates to let them know of the intrusion and that backup is requested. The patrolman also has the ability to work with a dog, which will follow the player and use its senses help detect invaders.

Engineer
The combat engineer is the team’s demolitions and booby trap expert. The engineer can create elaborate traps, find and disarm enemy traps, and also set up a tight security network to protect the compound.

Espionage plans to push the Source engine to its limits with many features, such as expansive maps, security networks, traps, and much more. We do not intend on giving away everything at once, so more information regarding the game such as the plotline, weaponry, locales, and a further look at the game's various roles will all come at a later date.
