Where Things Is At?

Its been a hard hard year. but we're still climbing the dev mountain. Things are now starting to look pretty again, so we'll be making some effort to show you what we're doing.

We be mappin right now, making vasty vistas for your visual... verification... we went on a massive push to improve the look of all our environment pieces, and to create a ton more. Look forward to large detailed urbanscapes, and very soon - Teh Jungle!

On the code side, we now have absolutely delicious firefights going on, with a completely new weapon recoil mechanic and completely scratch-built squad AI. Your grunts now obey your every command, supply you, revive you, and generally cover your ass. Game logic is being hammered into shape and we have a new and fancy UI to deal with some of the new equipment options.


Where Things Is Going?

Features still in development include:

  • WEAPON MODS: your dk is fail? add a surpressed barrel, AP-Hardpoint ammo, grav stabilisers and AR scope. now it is teh win :)
  • VEHICLE MODS: your sturm is getting pwned? add flash shields, IronRain missiles and PlasCannon!
  • New METAGAME, earn and wear MEDALS to aquire and use l33t WEAPONS, MODS and ITEMS
  • SOME KINDA ROBOT: Why yes that is a ULA light mecha in the title shot ^.^

So, fans of being shot at on other worlds in the far future, we salute your patience. Thankyou all for continuing to keep the faith. we're closer than ever before, but we still need experienced staff members.

congratulations, but i do feel a bit sad how a lot of the games i was planning to play for free (sanctum, dear esther, and many more that are in my bookmarks) are now going to cost me (i was young and walletless when i started following most of the mods). It would have crushed my dreams if I didnt have a job now.

cant help it, we'd like that all our effort also pays for smth, like everyone else.
eventhough money has never been our main motivator.

I think that adter this brilliant work its the minimum you can ask... Isupose that the engine can afford destructible buildings... like in bad company 2 or B3, but it doesnt matter its awesome... and i have read that there will be a JUNGLE? type Lost Planet 2? OMG... maybe a highway bridge could go trough the jungle, so that part is the vehicle fight, some buildings inside the jungle and... OMG epicness

Also another question, there will be tactical aids? like artillery, air stryke or orbital bombardment ( Youtube.com )... engineers could build defensive walls or sandbags to take cover on open spaces, and maybe some automatic turrets: antinfantry, antitank and antiaircraft, those can be destroyed like if they were vehicles, can be repaired... Also a map where a big ship is crashed and you can enter in some parts of the ship to capture 'flags'or whatever they are... and maybe a map where one team atacks a fortoificed research lab or something, normandy disembark style... well maybe you already have all this ideas... rocket artillery? some static manual antitank weapon? who knows maybe you have new ideas now...

Wow. I'm suuuuper excited for this. It's funny because, I just recently said to myself, "I wonder when AFF is going to get another update?" lol. Now I'm really excited. Looks fantastic! :D Keep up the good work.

1) Jungle maps? Hells yeah!

2) Better AI? Finally. I'm sick of dudes just following me around and dying.

3) Weapon customization? Hells yeah.

4) Mecha are always appreciated.

I like the mapping, it looks like a good futuristic city.

space game is on the backburner till we got the land game part all sorted, as that is needed for the space part. however several of the old fighters have gotten a brand new upgraded model + tex ( Affuniverse.com )

It might be a better idea to keep mechs more mechanical than biological...
Since the rigid robotic feel of the mobility is what makes them cool.
Once it becomes biological and becomes too comparable to human mobility, it loses it's style.

Going mech warrior style might do, but not too mech-like, like from games like BF 2142 where it's simply a bi-pedal mech that shoots.

Bipedal tanks, metal gear style, would be awesome since they can wield a multitude of attacks.

some good points, were kinda going with mechanical mechs for the ULA and organic looking mechs for AIA.
the weapons on the mechs are modular right now.
