This is a big update about the current status of the mod and our plans in the future.

Hello guys,

some weeks have passed since the last news and i'm sure you're wondering why the release takes so long. Well, there are many reasons. For one thing you know that coding the GC maps and events is very time-consuming and problematic, our Lead Coder is working(in real life) very often and hard since 2 months so he makes progress very slow, our event coder can finish the events not until the GC maps are final, our mapper has much stress at school, for another thing the motivation of others is very low so they aren't doing very much at the moment and so on and so forth...

That's it concering the reasons, now to the current status of the mod:
2 GC maps are already totally finished, means, the troops are in position, building options are set, texts are completed, units are anyway finished and already some events are written and working. They are well playable, the AI is very aggressive, briefly speaking, they make a lot of fun!
On the other hand it means, 4 are still in developement including the biggest one, they don't make fun at the moment. Temporary we wanted to release the version with only these 2 working GC maps, but we now think it is not really useful.

Last weekend we had a big meeting where we have decided many important things, i will not reveal everything but you should know what we have planned in general:
Because of the codes still need time, our skinner Larkis and i have decided to go on working on the ground part, but simultaneously to cut down the ground part, because the original concept would be too much effort and take at least one more year again, but at the moment nobody is willing to
spend again that much time on it. Most of us are already 1 1/2 year or more working on the mod and slowly we become tired of EaW.
Means, the ground part will not become that extremely considerable like the space part is, but we will anyway replace all buildings, effects, sounds and texts. Unfortunately we will not make new infantry or hero models anymore. Some more buildings will be modeled and some stuff will be reskinned so it better fits to Stargate, but basically there will not be more units than the known ones. One or two will say "oh, that's bad!", but you can believe me that it makes anyway a lot of fun now, even when it is not as varying as the space part.

Last but not least a new announcement:
The next release will not be a "space complete" anymore, it will be the "Stargate - Final 1.0", therefore we will not release another big version after that, "only" one or two major updates which will add some more stuff and fix bugs. Our goal is to finish the mod completely till the beginning of the next year. Before you say "oh my god, that are again about 4 months!", no...cause we want definitely to participate in the "Mod of Year 2008" votings here on ModDB, the next version will be released before middle of November, probably earlier! Unfortuntaly You have to wait 6 weeks longer, but then you'll get a complete version. We are very confident that we can accomplish that, so there will not be a delay again! For the first time, the goal is in sight!!

I know some of you will be disappointed now, so i have added 7 new screenshots, one shows the Goauld ground units, another the firing Asuran gate satellite and others show some more stuff^^. Have a look at them and feel free to discuss!

I think that in the end you guys are making the sensible decision.

You've come this far but want to move on, but you're doing the right thing by the fans and pulling together what you can by a time limit your whole team agreed upon. Alot of MODs go a long way and fall down just before the finishing line, I just want to thank you guys for taking the extra effort and making sure that at the end of the day all the word you've done will be enjoyed by the masses!

Here's where i'd say "God bless", If I beleived in such things. ;)

i agree you guys are making the right decision... you need to have both ground and space complete otherwise it's not as much fun...

and this mod is awesome and you guys should be proud of what you have done so far and be proud of what you will accomplish by finishing this

i dont understand so der not makin the skins for the units or hav dey done de skins but not addin new stargate units like from atlantis good work guys hope u take a holiday wen your done lol

@asho: we will not make new models but reskin old EaW stuff so it better fits to Stargate.

Hiya guys! I have downloaded, unrared and installed the files to my Star wars EaW folder. But when i double click the "Stargate.bat" File the stargate game doesn't start. I get a CMD window saying something like Stargate mod bla bla bla. But when the game starts its just the normal SWEaW. What did i do wrong? Help me out please, would appreciate it!
