This tutorial will help you create a dedicated server for zs:mp i will show you step-by-step how to install, setup and configure the server.
1# - download the HLDS tool from the steam servers: Storefront.steampowered.com
2# - follow the installer choosing the path of your server ( mine is c:/server )
3# - open the installation path in explorer right click "hldsupdatetool.exe" and click "create shortcut" then rich click the shortcut and click properties and enter
"C:\SERVER\HldsUpdateTool.exe -command update -game orangebox -dir ." ( without quotes )
changing the path if necessary
4# - double click the shortcut and a command prompt will show and say its downloading files ( this may take a while depending on your internet connection )
5# - once this has finished copy the "zombiesurvival-mp" folder into the orangebox folder which should be located at "C:/SERVER/orangebox"
6# - in the orangebox folder create a new text document and open it in notepad ( right click->new->text document ) enter this:
"srcds.exe -console -game zombiesurvival-mp +map zs_quarantine_v5 +maxplayers 10" ( without quotes )
you can change the map name but if it has spaces use +map "map name" .bsp isnt needed
then click save as as change the name to Start.bat ( obviously change the name if you want ) and change the "Save as type" to All Files
7# create a new text document in the cfg folder of zombiesurvival-mp and enter this:
zs_waittime 10 - waiting time until game start after enough players have joined
zs_startingamount 2 - amount of players needed to start the game
zs_restarttime 10 - time to wait until reset or map change after everyone has died
zs_mapchange 0 - whether to change map when everyone died
zs_collision 1 - player collision
there are other commands avaliable heres a forum thread with some of the most common:
Forums.srcds.com
*most of the deathmatch related ones wont work*
save the document as server.cfg and change the "Save as type" to All Files
8# double click the Start.bat file ( or whatever you called it ) and you should see a command prompt one of the lines should write:
Network: IP , mode mp, dedicated yes, ports SV/ CL
you will need to portforward your SV port to the IP specified.
for example if mine reads:
Network: 192.168.1.3, mode mp, dedicated yes, ports 27015 SV/ 27005 CL
you will need to portforward the port 27015 on the ip 192.168.1.3.
OPTIONAL
if you have limited disk space you can direct the srcds bat to your sourcemods folder by changing -game zombiesurvival-mp to -game "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\zombiesurvival-mp "
if you are having any problems comment here or add me on steam "tingtom", if you cant see your server you may need to portforward the client port 27005 if not use connect on your external ip ( Whatsmyip.org )
well thats a pain for a noob...like me :D
How do they connect
your dedicated server will show in the server browser or alternatively you can give out your external ip for people to connect to
what HLDS
half life dedicated server
It's a tool that enables you to run dedicated servers rather than listen servers.
I don't see zombiesurvival-mp help
Guys, for Aftermath 0.1 and over, go to:
(Steam Directory)\SteamApps\sourcemods\zombiesurvival
Copy zombiesurvival, and then rename it to zombiesurvival-mp to avoid conflict issues
