The sun can shine even stronger in winter and it reflects of the snow making it even harder to see.

Not only that, is that it is mandatory to wear eye protection now when in a combat zone, that's why aus. Regulars use goggles, special forces tend to use sunnies, because they are lighter and some are stronger than goggles
