Slowly building to world domination.... slowly but surely
This is for people that dont think the game can handle high poly units... i say to you, BOOOOO! And, yes the game can.... and off screen there is at least ten more Pelicans with 15 scorpions behind... The hornets are 2500 poly each, Pelicans 9k, Scorpions 7125
The question isn't "could the game support it ?" but "is it useful ?".
A good model use the best shape with the lower possible number of poly.
But I admit that those models are really good, really impressive...
Also, how playable is it, if half the people that play, say had low end machines could they even spawn more than 5 units?
Exactly as above. If you have a high-end enough machine your game will handle whatever models you throw at it. The people who say the game will crash are basing there information on nothing.
However the slow down in lower-end machines can make the game unbearable and unplayable.
True. Im not afraid of lag on C&C Generals, even with high poly models. However, I have a high end machine.
i have a nvidia 5200fx, P4 2.8ghz, and one gig of ram, and with 8 UNSC players (settings maxed btw) and about a thousand units in the game at once.... i had around 15 fps... yes it is playable, and my version also has almost all units replaced with high poly models... so yea, low end is okay
but, of course.... idk if you have a P2 and 64mb of ram, and a Nvidia 2.... then you couldnt run at all, LOL
Hem... The only thing I was saying was that it was good, but only if it was impossible to have the same result with a few less poly...
For example, sometimes, when you make a 500 poly model and apply a special effect, it became a 350 poly model without any visible change...
But I think that, today, most Generals's players have a stronger computer than in 2004, so, now, mod with high number of poly are possibles...
the computer i use to mod and play is from 2003, with no upgrades... so, yea..lol
Tankinator, I understand your point, but with this mod, we are going for the highest everything! :D
And be sure that it already look great...
