A most impressive achievement! The proper depiction of the levels with floors, ceilings and a coherent art-direction in mind, - combined with a normal strafing - truly ignites the game with life. It no longer plays like a crudely archaic frankenstein, but like a competently made retro-fps. The extras with animations and weapons are an always and very welcome icing on the cake. Internal detailing and decoration - were ever a deal-maker or a deal-breaker for me, and i can only applaud the way this mod does it. Bravo!!!

However, there are a few things that stand in a way of a perfect score and mar the experience, considering the lengths the mod goes to implementing everything else that it does. In a map-intensive FPS like Wolf3d - it would be great to be able to assign the map button to whatever i want, and the same goes for the ability to zoom the map in/out - something that is currently absent. Mouse behavior is a little strange in itself...don't know if that was done for some retro-effect, but does not help the game's QOL. Finally, being able to assign mouse keys to more than just "fire" and "open" - would seem natural, but it is absent as well. Ditto regarding assignable weapon keys, or at least the minimum: weapon up/down buttons. When these features are implemented - i would gladly rate this mod 10/10 - or even 15/10, if that was possible.
This, is THE BEST upgrade Wolf3d ever had. With or without ID. Full stop.

...why Dosbox only?!

A very decent mod. The new levels are fun and fairly balanced around the new weapons. I always found use of the new weapons, they never felt unnecessary. The boss fights were quite alright, especially the last one. I only dared to try the new difficulty setting on the first episode and oh man, I wasn't brave enough to try it on episode 2 after finishing 1. Plenty of replay value for the og episodes too (if you do own the og game of course). Can't really think of anything to nitpick about. It's a 10/10 for me.
