What will be the maximum engagement ranges for maneuvering and non-maneuvering targets for the r-27 and aim-120?

From what I see in the video, in the second instance the AIM-120 was fired close and the chopper was still able to beat it kinematically.

Anyway, great job, can't wait to play this :)

The 2nd instance was actually replay of first instance, just zoomed in so it looks like range was closer :)

The no-escape zone depends on launch altitude and target's altitude.

In the above video, the helicopter was flying at low altitude and F-Pole length is about 850 wic meters (wm). In contrast, AIM-120's dynamic launch zone range (where missile gets fired) is 750 wm, or about the firing range of a heavy artillery in vanilla unmodded WiC.

At low altitude, the missile drags more and you also run into seeker settling issues due to ground clutter (affects radar guided missiles only). You will notice that in the video, I'm issuing lot of move orders to increase the F-Pole so missile has to travel farther and farther, while ensuring that helicopter is at low altitude. Combined to the fact that missile was fired at maximum range, the helicopter was able to dodge it.

However, at the same exact F-Pole range of 850 wm, if that helicopter was flying at high altitude, the missile will kill it with about near 100% probability of kill.

Overall, the no-escape zone range of AIM-120 for almost all aircraft types is about 500 wm (range of medium artillery in vanilla, unmodded game).

R-27's dynamic launch zone (DLZ) range is 900 wm.
