Trolls are a great way to get EXP if your a horseman. They might take some time to kill, but if you have good maneuvering, you can kill tons of them without getting hit. :)
Bah. Who needs cav when you are a dwarf and you have axes!! I can kill 10 Trolls all alone on foot with Some Throwing axes and a melee axe. EASY THING.. EASY EXP!
