Warcraft vs Starcraft is a free modification to Blizzard Entertainment’s Warcraft III originally created by the team ZanMgt, and is now continued by the community! In this game modification, we’ve integrated StarCraft's mechanics and art by hand so the world can see what happens when Blizzard's greatest franchises duke it out! We're all very proud of Warcraft vs Starcraft and hope you’ll enjoy our hard work!
The Night Elves have caught this Zerg expansion without defenses!

war3 and starcarft are my favorit games:X
Dude, this looks incredible. Seriously, best graphics on this engine so far.
However, there's one thing that I don't get, which also leads me to believe this image might be pre-rendered (don't get me wrong, it's just hard to believe that this would look so good).
1. I could swear that the hatchery has the exact same dynamic lighting as the Starcraft 2 engine does, if you look closely there are certain parts which have bright highlights. It's definitely not the texture because you can see on the other side of the hatchery that it no longer has those highlights.
2. The texture itself is extremely high quality, maybe I'm missing something but it looks like it must have some mega large resolution. This also worries me as to how well the mod will perform because of how detailed these models are so far. The engine can only do so much...
Apart from those questions I'm extremely pleased to see such a high quality modification reveal itself from the shadows after Starcraft 2 has been released.
1. Good eye! We "baked" the textures together using separate screen grabs from within Starcraft 2. This allowed us to retain SC2's max-graphic gloss and shadowing on the units.
2. The texture is a standard 512x512 texture, but to improve visual fidelity we sharpen each mipmap (separate resolution textures) by hand so they don't become blurred.
As for performance, we're always trying to optimize where we can, but the poor 8 year old Warcraft engine definitely shows its age in some places. If you have mid-range specs ($30 video card) you should be able to run the mod just fine. =)
I can't wait 4 this!
