War of the Silmarils is a sub-mod of Third Age: Total War, the ever popular total conversion for Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms. The goal is to follow the lore as closely as possible and faithfully reproduce the heroic First Age of Tolkien's Middle-earth in the Medieval II: Total War engine. War of the Silmarils features many new unique factions, each complete with a roster of units, a completely new campaign map of Beleriand and the lands to the North, and much more. So if you're one of the many who have been enthralled by Tolkien's mystical world, this is a mod to watch!

Awesome, been hoping this mod would get made for what has felt like an age! Looking forward to leading forth the hosts of the Dispossessed under Meadhros from its release until the Dagor Dagorath!

The predecessors to those we call Laiquendi once lived far past the Ered Luin, but they were driven by orcs and things fouler still to cross the mountains alongside their leader, Denethor. He, as the first and last of their kings, was lost to a merciless battle due in part to the ill-readiness of his people for it. The green elves held no ease in their hearts thereafter, and have taken to recent conflicts with a zeal few would have ever expected. These Laegrim now assume guard over the forest eaves, stone-glass blades felling evil wheresoever it can be found.

Bound up as it is in rivers and trees, the realm of Ossiriand does not play host to countless head of wild horses as do some other lands in the east. This being said, those steeds the green elves can get their hands on are put readily to warlike purpose. Their speed takes the Laegrim predilection for skirmishing and elevates it to near sole dominion over the battlefield. So long as the ground is unobstructed, they are free to shoot into the backs of occupied warriors, lead other cavalry round in futile chases, and slaughter light infantry at axe's edge.
