Carl.First of all. This is very similar to my part of the map. This part I came up with myself because there were no good photos ammo dump. Secondly. Too many containers.Third.Why I see my art position from behind?....It's very badly....

Let me address your concerns one by one. First, I had no idea you were the mapper of Khe Sanh for the other mod, and I don't want to give you the impression I am ripping off your work. But unfortunately as you said, there are no accurate / close up photos of the ammo dump. I certainly have taken some inspiration from you (you are one of the best mappers I've seen in a long time), but also the old World at War Vietnam mod (hence the container heaviness). It was also stated in a Khe Sanh documentary that a lot of the ordinance before the siege was brought in via C130 and other airlifts and it was delivered via containers.

As for your other concerns - Everything you see is a work in progress. Unfortunately we don't have a modeler on our team. We don't have the luxury of new entities and textures. Every time we get something new I have to outsource it. The artillery positions are similar because as I said, I have taken a lot of inspiration from you. And this isn't to rip you off or discount the amazing work you've done, it's just a placeholder until we can get entities that suit our mod more. Everything you see is a work in progress my friend.

I think you'll find once I am done with the map, and have adjusted everything, once we have our new entities and textures, etc. the maps won't be so similar as to where you feel cheated. But I think you do an amazing job and with a project as massive as Khe Sanh I took heavy inspiration.

I hope this alleviates some of your concerns, and you'll just have to trust that in the final product this map will show more flavor of our own mod. Unfortunately for the moment I am just working with what I have and there will be a lot of similarities because we are both working on the same engine, in the same time period, on the same map.

Hi, one of the High Devs here with the Vietnam 1955-75 mod.

All I can say is, as Carl said, he had no nefarious intention to copy, or plagiarise your map.

Looking at field bases in Vietnam, especially when doing specific ones, it is not unsurprising to find to have maps that would have the exact same setup, especially if we are trying to replicate them exactly how they where built.

Having said that, I have spoken to Carl stating that if he is creating a map, inspiration is good, but there is a stark difference between taking inspiration, and then have entities and items places in the exact same location, with the exact same setup.

We have explained that should a very similar situation or circumstance arises like this again, it would better to change the map up a bit.

Obviously though, if you are making a Khe Sanh map, the base is going to look like every other Khe Sanh map, because, you are going to be creating the base based on real life photos, and there are only so many ways in which that can be made.

Just the same way as reviewing a book can only be said with so many words.

If you wish to submit pictures of what you have done in the past so that you feel more comfortable that our maps and your maps are not going to overlap, I am more than happy to oblige.

If maps do happen to appear similar in future, it's coincidence and nothing more, after all, Vietnam maps have been made to death at this point, so it's no surprise everything is going to start look the same.

We are not in the business of taking other people's maps and uploading them saying that they are ours, just the same as you would not be either, or anyone else for that matter.

I hope this clears up and answers your questions, and I wish you a good day.

While the mod picks back up I have begun new work, namely the Khe Sanh Combat base. Here you can see the main ammo dump on the khe sanh combat base, located by the East end of the Airstrip and the Air Force FOB on the base.
