The Countess can drop high runes, and she becomes the single best source in the game for these items. It doesn't take years to gather the runes to build any high level Runeword item, it can be done in hours.

The Countess can drop up to 3 runes at a time, but she drops less than 3 when you increase the player count. It's best to run the Countess on /players 1 for Runes. This is how the game drop mechanics work for the Countess.
