What makes you so sure that they didn't just nick them from the Ultramarines?
I kinda think that's what happened to Russ and the Lion. They were looted and converted to blood ravens. So if you see a suspiciously large blood raven...He might just be a primarch they "liberated" from their home legion.
I know its popular to hate Primaris, but I have to say I'm excited to see them here.

We plan to use them as meatshields. Strap them to the land speeder and bike squad's front. Figure they're big enough to take a few hits and protect the more precious veteran marine and his favorite mount.
