Ultimate Apocalypse is a mod for Dawn of War Soulstorm, which aims to create the most diverse possible unit and faction selection within the confines of the original DOW engine. We strive to create the most engaging and balanced Warhammer 40,000 game that we can, without sacrificing the fun factor. From hordes of Orks to the towering Titans, you can always find a new way to play UA. We invite all of you to join us on our Discord server to keep up with the development of the mod!
What the title says. Authorized by Lord Doofus and all.
As usual, I'm playing IG. Against Necrons because fighting them gets epic fast. Map is Bloodshed Alley (6 players), included with vanilla Soulstorm.
Background music is a music player with my own custom selection of epic soundtracks.
Friendly reminder to headphone users: As usual with modded DoW battles, this is kinda loud.
You should get them to include your music in the mod ;)
We (the UA team) would have already if the corporate bigshots behind the music industry wouldn't annihilate anything UA-related in consequence. Because by distributing "their" (what about the actual artists?) music for free, we would be doing the worst thing possible for a corporation's point of view: Getting in the way of their profit flow.
/rant
Put ringtone's on repeat...that's 100% legal.
I'm fairly sure any copyright lawyer will disagree :S
Only reason big corporations don't copyright stuff like classic music from some centuries ago is because it's too late to do so. And maybe because it'd mark them even more as massive evil moneygrabbing douches, but I doubt they really care about that.
Nice, it seems the framerate is much more stable, have you been optimising =]?
Many things actually, yes. This also wasn't that big of a battle either, and a high end Intel cpu helps a LOT (when upgrading my comp, it was a tough decision: an AMD 8-core which would be better at pretty much everything but not-so-good-at-DoW since it's less powerful per core, or an Intel 4-core which lost on pretty much all sides except being 80% better on singlethreaded operations. And DoW is singlethreaded...)
Another fact that I don't really like admitting since it's a stupid app that requires to make an account to use it, yet it has proven to be very practical, is the Razer Game booster Razerzone.com . For one, it actually gets DoW to load faster. Another useful feature is that it's able to disable stuff when boosting a game, so I use it to disable Windows Aero transparency when launching DoW, since DoW tends to freeze when I alt+tab with transparency enabled. There's a decent chance performance is slightly better than before since I'm using it.
I also made this tutorial here Forums.relicnews.com and needless to say, I applied the faster loading times and big battle crash prevention on my end.
Finally, running Soulstorm on compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2 seems to help a tiny bit with loading times and compatibility.
...
Long post over xD
Siege monolith is now forever alone lol
cant wait to get my hands on this.... :DDDD
Thanks for sharing, Rocket Banana! This was awesome!
really cool!! I don't like requesting things because I know modding DOW is alot of work but would it be possible at some point to get an advanced build menu in the vehicle production buildings that allows you to build whole apocalypse formations like:
Games-workshop.com
It would make the mod a bit closer to the apocalypse and epic games. Also being able to build whole squadrons would reduce micro-management.
Sorry bro, but... gah long story. I'll bullet.
- Pathfinding issues.
- Vehicle units can only be repaired one out of the x number of squads.
- Rebalance.
- Duplicates of squad rgd files I don't want to have to keep track of.
Hence why the idea is cool... but there are problems and bugs that goes along with this.
so coool!
Awesome video. But no resistance^^
Gosh, I can't give you enough credit for this update.
If didn't see things, you've got one hell of an artillery battery... and high framerate unlike me D:.
I'm still excited for new version.
