A new and improved look at the huge 8 player map of High Platform.
For those worried about game's performance, I have faith the map will still run as it usually does. My reworks of St. Huldrych Causeway and City of Stormgrad have had no negative effects on its frame rate since its update despite having way more added models and details featured on the map. In fact, High Platform's map size has been cut in half from 1024x1024 to 1024x512 which should be beneficial.

NICE!
Awesome!!!!
one of my favorite maps to test stuff out on, so thats awesome
Great job as always, i'm eager to play the new St. Huldrych Causeway since is my favorite map. Thanks.
I really have to ask my friend give me back the games !
I see that in the screenshot the ramp you've made is incredibly smooth. I've been using the mission editor for quite some time and I have some Ultimate Apocalypse maps on my profile (if you'd like to add them to the mod I'd be cool with that). I was wondering how you achieved such a flat incline? Is their a process or system for creating such a smooth piece? I've just been using that smoothing tool between two levels but it's often rough. I want to attempt making more urban maps and it helps if the ramps look artificial and constructed.
I know the feeling and lucky for you there is an easy way, BUT it requires third party programs. In Mission Editor, go to file/export/export height map. It'll give you a black and white layout of the map's entire height weights. From there, I import the map into Photoshop, select how much ramp I want in a location with the selection tool and use a gradient tool to create a smooth transition from one height to the other. Then file/import/import height map and the map will generate the new changes from the picture. Nowadays, I do this with all my ramps and stairs as it usually gives you perfect results. If you don't have Photoshop, GIMP I think is free and has a gradient tool that you can use.
Wow that was a fairly quick response thanks, I'll have a play around and see if I'm not dumb enough to figure out how to use GIMP. if not....I guess all my ramps will remain lumpy like a nutsack.
Oh, another bigger into the breach remake? Please add some vanilla style maps with more open space, several pathways, actual strategic points to fight for and capture. In short, maps where the actual control of the territory matters.
You failed to realize that this map has at least two pathways, while into the breach only has one. These pathways are also much wider and open. Another thing you didn't realize is that into the breach is one of the most beloved maps in DoW series history.
Few maps are as fun to play on as Into the Breach and for players who favor turtling tactics it's a dream come true. it is a friendly map for new players and casuals alike as well as a perfect testing ground for experimenting with certain tactics or new stuff. While it doesn't hold much territory to fight over, it's an excellent map for defense and therefore especially suitable for players who main IG. There is more to be said, but i'm not bothered to explain further why it's such a beloved map.
I'm not here to make maps for UA, I'm here to improve the existing ones we have. High Platform is nothing new and it lacks a lot of depth and personality in its appearance. Furthermore, there's already around 130 (estimate) vanilla maps in Dawn of War and most of them don't have the proper scale UA demands in its gameplay. Huge maps like these are my personal favorite and I plan to polish them so I, and others, have a reason to play them.
If you're desperate to have more vanilla maps in UA, try making some yourself with the Mod Tools for Dark Crusade. Hopefully they'll work for you: Mediafire.com
That looks marvellous! I really enjoy the intense battles I have in this map and I'm in awe with this revamp, great job!
But I have a question: in the middle pic (the one with the ramp) there is a Critical Location, but I fail to notice an access to it. Will it only be captured via jumping/teleporting infantry?
Not at all. I'm merely laying out heights on the map. There will be ramps descending to the crit.
I keep dreaming on the day we have a game like this, but with Total War or bigger scale battle maps.
This is improvement at it's finest. I've always had a soft spot for these Into the Breach style maps. Keep up the good work!
Imagine spawning a Titan outside the platform and having it look down upon the other units as they use various Super heavies and vehicles in a desperate counter. Sounds beautiful
good work
About Bloody well time that this change was made. Killer work Eranthis, you good ol' Catachan Devil...
Did this map redux ever get completed? If it didn't Eranthis if by chance you're reading this do you want to send me whatever you have completed and I'll finish it up?
