First things first they will only be a unit for the IG NOT a faction. I implore you to read the above page before continuing

The Death Korps of Krieg is known for being the toughest of the tough, making Cadians look like tufts of wet fur. As an in gamee unit the Death Korps would be immune to morale and would be easily capable of engaging most other factions on an equal plane. What they lack in melee strength they make up for in skill. The Death Korps could easily defeat even Kasrkins in melee, perhaps even Ogryns as well, their bayonets are an extension of their bodies. As for ranged weapons they are just as capable, honed to deadly accuracy after centuries of trench warfare.

I recommend ingame for them to be as mentioned, immune to morale and extremely dangerous both ranged and melee. They are not a melee unit but anything short of a raptor squad should hesitate before charging them. They are not fast due to their status as siege infantry, but they are far more durable than any other IG infantry unit. The main negative of the Korps is that they should have a negative morale effect on other IG infantry around them.

Edit: Upgrades could include a commissar instead of a sergeant that would prevent morale loss to other troops, however would have little to no effect on the Krieg themselves. Aside from that they use slightly different weapons that are far more powerful than standard lasguns but fire slower. Other upgrades would be similar if not the same as standard guardsmen.

Well for krieg lets say High morale but they have not best armor so weak against ranged attacks and deadly melee should work :D

I still think the IG should have doctrines as Chaos, where u could choose the Death Korps of Krieg, Catachan Regiments, etc...

I love the idea of the Death Korps impacting the morale of units around them - it plays to their reputation. Y'know, all the rumors about them, which range from them being genetically engineered clones, to the resurrected corpses of dead guardsmen, to ghosts - none of which are true.

Personally, as far as combat goes, I feel like they should act as a unit that excels in cover - is there any way to boost accuracy and melee damage, perhaps even remove knockdown/back in cover? Krieg soldiers also use more powerful versions of the Lasgun that do much more damage but lack the ability to fire on full-auto - these weapons are called "Hellguns". Not to be confused with the Hotshot Lasguns used by Stormtroopers (Tempestus Scions now?) which have the increased damage and are only used on full auto, but need the power packs.

If the cover thing isn't an option, turn them into Death Korps Grenadiers. Better armor, better melee skills.

As for heavy weapons - Meltas. Kriegsmen love their meltas. Also, grenade launchers, heavy flamers, heavy stubbers, and mortars.

They could have the Quartermaster as the squad leader - perhaps he gives a refund when a member of his squad dies as well as acting as a medic to the squad but only the squad, unlike the Combat Medics already in the mod. There's lore there, and you can look it up, but the name kind of explains it. They're medically trained, but they're not really there to save lives - they're there to save equipment to make it easier to equip the next bunch of sods going to the grinder.

Just my two cents.

I hope I didn't sound too demanding. I just love the Death Korps. Really, as long as they're there in some capacity, I'm happy.

Why not a faction :o ? I don't know why not ? After all they have a gameplay to be added to the game like :

- The buildings would be trenches (i know not in the ground but up ON the ground a trench on the actual game ground ^^) !

- there tanks would be less armed as IG armors, a bit like Steel legion armor, but strong tanks !

- The thing whene you said "no morale issues" is realy interresting ! WE CAN DO A LOT WITH THEME ^^

WHY not a faction :) !! A little one but a faction of theme ^^ cause adding theme to the IG would not be realy realistic in terme of W40K rules :) But after all, for a begining in the game they could be only a unit in IG :) !

(Sorry for my grammar, i'm french :) !)

I'm honestly surprised the Death Korps isn't in the mod already. I mean they have added new factions entirely so i don't think it would be a huge request for a new army of IG. It would be little more than a re-skin and i like the idea of immune morale considering it lines up with their lore. My position is a little biased considering they are my absolute favorite unit of the 40k universe.

I'm suprised too. I know, that whole new faction is quite big deal, but there're tons of awesomely done resources from Steel legion mod, with enough tanks ,vehicles and stuff to be implemented in UA standards. Even if soldier's models aren't quite the same as DKoK's.

Trenches are great idea too, personally I'm really into that "IWW in 40th century" atmosphere.
