Description

The Laser Rifle is a beam-based weapon system that was designed for use by the UETF. The weapon uses a tightly attenuated laser beam powered by a light portable battery. Since the weapon uses no chemical propellant, there is no recoil when firing, making the weapon extremely accurate.

Recommended usage is to engage targets at medium to long range; the EM beam produced by the weapon disrupts enemy shields and is useful for engaging shielded enemies.

Upgrades for this weapon are available to experienced users.
At level 1, the overcharge ability is unlocked. Overcharging allows the operator to draw extra power from the battery, increasing the damage of the beam. The power drain takes a short period of time to activate, after which the next beam fired will be overcharged.
At level 2, the capacity of the battery is increased, effectively increasing the magazine size of the weapon.
At level 3, a refractory lens is placed at the end of the weapon, splitting the beam so it can hit a wider area.
At level 4, the beam is charged with radioactive energy, allowing it to pass through an enemy target and inflict damage on targets behind it.
At level 5, an internal capacitor is added to the weapon, allowing it to automatically draw power from the operator, eliminating the manual reload process.
At level 6, the wavelength of the beam is adjusted, increasing the damage inflicted.
