UETF Chronicles Release 1.1

News

4 weeks since the last UETF Chronicles Release! I had this idea that everything would get easier after release, but so far I've discovered that coding still requires effort, art still requires talent and that cutting sleep is still tiring - so much for that plan. The one thing that has become easier is getting feedback; with some solid numbers being tracked in our cloud, I can actually learn what players are doing in the game (most of them are still trying to find what button to press to harvest their crops). Seriously though, I've got some great data that I'm putting to use right now to improve the game - you can check it out in the 'By The Numbers' post on Iterative Games.

Anyway, I think bulleted feature-lists for updates are boring (Item 204.1: reduced enemy AI iron regression by .023); so instead, I'm giving you some great reasons to give the new update a try:

It's now available in .ZIP format! For everyone who couldn't/wouldn't use Desura - this one is for you. For those of you that have Desura - welcome to the joy of easy updates.

You like shooting robots in the face, and having them explode.
Now contains 200% more exploding robots! I was being serious about that. Part of the fun in being an elite super-operative with crazy weapons is just blowing the crap out of masses of enemy toasters. With the addition of hoards of low level minion bots and a general reduction in boss bots, your environment just got a lot more target rich.

You like gaining levels and unlocking new stuff. Gaining levels is fun, but nobody likes the grind - especially when you can't figure out what the reward is. So I've made all that easier. Lower level caps, lots of extra XP from killing minions, more upgrades per level and easy to find info on what you just unlocked and what unlocks you are working towards.

You like rocket launchers and explosions. I admit, there was no point in NOT equipping the micro-canister attachment for the rocket launcher before...but can I tempt you with a little heat seeking goodness? Now you'll have to make the hard choice of faster reloads vs. deadly heat guided rockets. For that extra level o' deadly I've also added the 'Head Seeker' technique - now your guided projectiles will automatically aim for enemy heads. Oh, and enemies that are on fire make are much easier for your missiles to find...you may want to pass that note onto your Ranger buddies.

You'd rather play a half-hour. Who has the time for 12 waves of unfeeling metal machines these days? Not you! You want your crazed robotic armies to deliver more madness in less time! So I've reduced the max waves down to 9 and redistributed enemy 'talent' so you'll see more challenge in less time.

For more updates, check out the Iterative Games Blog or follow us on Twitter. As always, thanks for your support and enjoy the new release. Go forth and frag some toasters!

Hey everyone - I've been working on a new game, 'Contract Work', a game with many similar themes to UETF - it's a customizable, cyberpunk 2d shooter. If any of you are interested, you can find it on IndieDB:

Please try deleting your entire UETFComplete folder in your UT2004 folder and any other UETF folders you may have (UETF, UETFTactics) and then re-install.
