Just to confirm what I wrote down in the comments section, I've just uploaded 0.48 in the past 20 minutes for our beta team to bugtest.
That means that unless we find a major problems that needs addressing, you can all expect us to release 0.5b1 by the end of the week.
To reiterate what's in this release:
- New AI
- New animations and skinning
- Balance changes
- Building renames
- A buggy version of the Influence resource (don't worry, we know it's terribad)
- Greater Devourer Mode (also known as Tyranid Mod: GDM)
So basically, it should be a more solid redo of the 0.45 release for Soulstorm.I can also say that from our two working models for the new construction system, one is almost ready for beta testing as well, as is an upgraded version of Influence. Those are our major changes from 0.5b1 to 0.5b2, so it shouldn't experience as big delays as 0.5b1 has. Obviously the key word there is shouldn't, life is always unexpected.
Update (24/11/11):
Minor delay - we have some additional code that needs adding and testing, but that should only delay us a week at most. You can still expect us to release 0.5b1 sometime in the next seven days.

Could you by any chance post a list of changes upon the 0.5b1/2 release? I like to be updated with the changes that have been made so I don't have to redo the Tyranids all over with proper needs for the Ultimate Apocalypse Mod XP2.
I made very many balance changes already for the XP2 mod, added revamped code, and made the Tyranids a little more playable and very enjoyable to play with than the 0.45 release. If you gimme the list of changes so I may check it twice, I could add the changes to the already made XP2 code so I don't have to start over from scratch. Thanks a bunch!
On a side note: I'm really excited! The TMT is actually releasing an update!

I'm excited by how the mod will look after this release. Have you guys changed the model of the Hive Tyrant yet (or whichever unit it was that used a bigger Warrior model)? I really want to see how the new skinning and models look like.

I'm honestly not too sure on the Hive Tyrant model. It may have been slipped in but unanimated, but it hasn't been in the series of updates I've been compiling in the past two months. I'd have to go check.
What does Great Devourer Mode do?
Tyranid Mod: Great Devourer Mod is an unlimited population mini-mod. Basically if you want to play around with weird combinations of whatever, you can do it. There are no limits on any units that are usually limited (Lictors, Carnifex, Biovores, Broodlords, Tyrant, Trygon, etc), and there are no maximum population caps.
It's for easy play as Tyranids or for ridiculously hard mode against them. :P
Is the dark eldar and sister of battle banner glitch fixed? I haven't been playing against those factions as the tyranids or as them either.
Also a real hive tyrant would be nice not just a big warrior
I believe it was fixed in 0.46, if it wasn't we should pick it up sometime this week in testing and fix it.
Just one more related question to put my mind completely at ease. I am running a combiner mod, will the banner from other mod factions (i.e daemon hunters) still work/appear? It would really suck having the DE and SOB banners work again and the mod banners glitching

The Daemonhunters banners will work. They use a different file for that. As for Tyranid Mod 0.5beta they said they fixed the SOB and DE banners. I think.
I download 5.1b and I am still experiencing the banner glitch
Sincerest apologies I went on here to quickly, I uninstalled 0.46 and somehow that file lingered. I had to manually replace it. I look forward to see what else you cooked up in this version.

Okay, so apparently the flags had not been fixed and there was a UI update we needed to run so other races weren't showing Ork Pop as a side-effect of the Influence test. Tracking down the flag fix now.

We're in the "next few days" stage still. We have a fix for the flag, I'm just working out if there are compatibility issues.
The most important thing is whether or not the new Hive Tyrant model is in and animated.
It's still being animated at the moment. Maybe in 0.5b2.
