Hello, I'm currently a Witch Hunters player and I was wondering if there was any REAL reason to choose Sisters of Battle over Sisters of Silence. The advantage of going for Sister's of Silence is pretty good and makes the Sister's of Battle look severely unappealing in comparison.

Sisters of Silence advantages:

  • They share the same price with the Sisters of Battle's Covent, and take the same amount of time to complete.
  • Their units have slightly more health.
  • Their weapon selection allows them to deal with more prominent threats.
  • The Sisters of Silence Covent only takes up almost 1/4th of the building space that sister's of battle covent requires

Sister's of Battle advantages:

  • They have Heavy Bolters and Multi-meltas. (But it seems that they simply get outclassed eventually due to the SoS armament anyway)

A multitude of things could be added to make the sisters of battle be more appealing, because as of now, any niche that they could fill can be filled with their corresponding Sister's of silence counterpart. While I'm sure the team will make their own solutions eventually, here's some solutions that could make Sister's of battle atleast worth considering:

  1. Make the Sister's of Silence Covent, need a specific type of research or requirement.
  2. Make it be a choice so you have to choose between Sister's of Silence or Sister's of Battle, and add some advantages for Sister's of Battle to make them different to/ or atleast on par with, the Sister's of Silence.
  3. Simply increase the cost for Sister's of Silence counterparts by a little bit, or make it cost power in addition to requisition.

Reguardless over whether or not this (admittedly very small) issue gets address, I'd like the team to know that I really enjoy their work and I find this mod to be one of the most polished modding experiences I have ever had on Dawn of War and I hope they continue their work!

(I am also willing to admit that If there IS an advantage to the Sister's of Battle compared to the Sister's of Silence, I might not be completely aware of it.)

Standard Sisters have Heavy Bolters. Sisters of Silence have Storm Bolters. Heavy Bolters stronger and shoot on more distance but must be stationary. Storm Bolters able to fire while moving. Players must choose what they want in concrete situation.

In addition Sisters of Silence are more beautiful. :) However Standard Sisters and Sisters of Silence are base infantry with similar tactical role. The choice between them is a matter of taste (according to W40k-legend), and in lesser extent a question of tactics.

Understandable. I just kinda wish there was more of a difference between the two that would warrant having two seperate, but extremely similar units.

It is not needed in TWM. You do not understand my concept as I see. All, what we see in the TWM, were made with thin definite intent.

But if is truly just a matter of taste rather then a question of tactics, as a mod author why have them have different but distinct advantages to begin with? Why not just have them have a same building size or same armament if it is truly about appearance (lore-wise). The argument I am making isn't a matter of appearance, but rather game-balancing and the mod's abandonment of vanilla units that will now go unused in competitive play. Is the Heavy bolters really worth the extra time and requisition to make an entire building for it, when you have to quickly build buildings around a requisition node it is simply easier to create the sister's of silence building then the normal sisters of mercy building. While the argument I'm making does seem nitpicky at best, the argument is there. I don't doubt that they were made with definite intent but in practice, the vanilla SOB units become simply underwhelming in comparison as stated in my comparison above.
