This modification offers an alternative gameplay to Tiberian Wars involving many Tiberian Sun units which many CnC fans (like me) missing in vanilla CNC3 and add even new my made units which you can't find anywhere else. Story is quite the same like Tiberian Wars, but is all about what if GDI and Nod do not abandon technologies they have used in Tiberian Sun era and instead of that further developed them. But it's not only that, there are many visual, sound and balance changes which I want to see and hear in my mod, new sounds, new music, new effects (like blood and gore, new infantry deaths, new more realistic missile trails) and many more.

Hallo everyone!
today i have something special for Nod fans. Last time i have promissed that next time i show you Nod Montauk. Well it took me a while, but that moment is finally here. So i give you firs look at possible Nod Montauk. I hope you like it as it is, but if not feel free to let me know what you dislike.

Right now it can be deployed into Fist of nod. For those who are not familiar with Tiberian Sun:Firestorm units (or do not remember), Fist of nod is sort of forward vehicle factory, that you can deploy and pack up again anywhere on map. List of vehicles produced on fist of nod is still in question, tech 1 is sure thing, but more advanced vehicles depends on ballance.

Secondary ability is broadcasting Nod propaganda. It think it fits well on this unit.

Subterranean move ability is also in question. I dont want to attach any drilling mechanism on the front for now, it would ruin the classic look of the montauk, but it can use all its lasers to drill trough earth. (that is why it get so many on the front) Still it might looks unbelievable. So i dont know about that yet.

And once again i need to remind you that its not ordinary unit, you need to capture special structure on map - The Tacitus Archive in order to deploy this unit into battle.

So that all for today. Enjoy new pictures and post your comments.
Until next time

Carnius

The Montauk was a must and now is in the mod. Excellent.

What I like: all the abilities (fist of nod and propaganda)

What I think it should be implemented: definetly vibrating scalpels in the front (the model has already 3 in the front) + vibrating spikes in the sides/back.

What I don't like: AA laser. Montauk shouldn't be able to defend against air target, after all it's a ground support unit.

I believe the Montauk is supposed to be Nod's Epic Vehicle, like GDI's MKII Walker. The MKII can defend against air, so the Montauk should be able too. It makes sense to me as a balance factor.

Although... Dare I say, there may be too much laser involved with Nod at this point. Variety in their arsenal would be nice. But I will be understanding if I'm asking for too much.

True, but Carnius told that the primary epic assault unit is the Cyborg Commando (the counter to Mammoth II). Montauk works as support unit that provide to boos the army and make a sneaky production facility just behind the enemy's back. A fair weakness (if the spikes/scalpels will be added) should be its vulnerability against air units.

I see your point, but I still believe that having some AA capabilities fits a support unit. Even the CC lacks AA capabilities even though it's the primary epic assault unit.

Because each unit should be able to be countered. Cyborg commando is smaller and cheaper than other epic units.
Mammoth II was always considered the "virtually invincible unit" and the only way to destroy it by outnumber it (using AT weapons). Montauk should be more "bastard" ans "sneaky" (sorry for my harsh definitions), and should be escorted in order to prepare a surprise attack. I don't see the point to add another AA unit in Nod Arsenal (especially a laser, AFAIK AA laser should be impossible to replicate for the Brotherhood).

I nicknamed it myself "Basilisk king" for all those lasers. Can it maybe charge the Obelisk to its full potential like 3 basilisks?
Drilling mechanism, scalpels, spikes, dozers or not,it definitely needs to be able to do subterannean strikes.
In which numbers will the price be? (2500-4500 I guess)
How it will fare againts MKII?
I also deem AA questionable. We would need dozens of maps where you have TA just few steps out of your base. The deployed Fist of Nod would behave like normal factory, where higher tier units need requirement structures I guess.

I think this is brilliant and for the units it can train I think it should be able to train all of the units bar the top tech like avatars

No, that's not balanced at all... Just appear and start producing Avatars behind someone? Hardly balanced... I'm thinking T2 might be balanced, but flametanks are really going to be superb if that becomes the case.

If you look at the last pictures you will see the Montauk has 3 articulated modules. Aren't they enough?

well they are longer each. i am not saying you need more modules, i am just saying that the original is longer.

It seems enough long to me, if it gets even more longer it will be hard to manouver it. This unit shouldn't be a copy of the original, but its natural evolution.

Very cool but when its deployed it should elongate or unfold in some way, not shrink because that makes no sense (an awesome feature would be it opens up and you can watch the unit inside being built but that might be way too much work or just flat out impossible.)

The Montauk = just great to have one.

Any chance of creating a CABAL Core Defender, Carnius?

Make CABAL as new faction...

It would be interesting to see that. But it wouldn't make sense because:

Nod already has cyborgs. If they were removed, then:

-Harder Nod campaign missions, because the cyborgs and cyborg commando are really strong. Thus needed as guards or main assault units along with the avatars.

Other problem would be that Carnius should make new units and buildings for that. And that would delay even more the next release. Plus that he would need new quotes for each one of them. :/

If the brotherhood leaves cyborgs to a new CABAL side then it will have new units to counterbalance it, for example the old fashioned Elite Cadre as heavy infantry armed with AT laser or AP particle beam, another nice comeback would be the chamaleon unit that may work in combo with shadow team as sneaky advanced infantry.

A whole CABAL faction is really easy to do (I made it for another mod with full structures, units, upgrades and abiliries). Off course it wouldn't be ready for 1.52, but for later versions. I don't understand thee meaning of "quotes".

Ah. I see the point now. Well then. At this point I agree.

And when I said "quotes" I meant the standart voices of the units when you click at 'em.

"Rifle Squad ready". -Rifle Squad.

"Down with GDI!". -Militant Squad.

"Kfsgkhemtsjige<thjnmsrfkrwehetmdsgkfdjm". -[Insert scrin unit here].

The Core Defender was destroyed in the final battle against CABAL in Firestorm.

well it does not have to be cabal because we know Kane was making legion in between 2 and 3 so the new faction could be the superior legion not cabal

By the way. It should defenitely not have AA lasers; why would the Obelisks not fire at air units otherwise?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+3 votes
FortressMaximus

Because the Brotherhood in C&C2 nor in C&C3 was able to replicate that technology. The obelisk of darkness was mystery (noone knows if it was a laser or a particle beam or an undulation beam...) and generally air units are faster than ground units (even supersonic) the aiming with a laser may be problematic.

Exactly. And if the Obelisks Nod uses in C&C3 cant do that either, then the Montauk shouldnt.
