Tiberian Eclipse is being designed to improve upon the concepts of C&C4. Improved gameplay, new features, and an evolution between Westwood's & EA's concept of tiberium will be presented. Experience the return of some of your favorite units, evolution of others, and entire new ones in what we hope will come together to make a great conclusion of the C&C: Tiberium Series.

Welcome back Commander. We appreciate your dedication to the cause. As many of you may have noticed, we finally have our new layout online, and if all goes well it should stay this way. Progress is continuing on the mod and we will reveal more details on the website as it becomes available. Again, the website will be the first line of news for the mod.

Now the website design is a bit premature, but it should be in running order. There’s a forum link for the website (under general) where you can post any bugs / feature requests you might have.

There are still plenty of opportunities to join the mod team at Moddb.com

Modeling

We have finally got someone to finish the scorpion tank model, however it still requires some finishing touches, but I'm sure you will all enjoy the work that we have put into it so far. Please feel free to comment so we can improve our models before texturing and coding in game so we can offer you all the best experience when the mod is released.
(Note: The old image of the scorpion tank model is obsolete as we have an upgraded version, so take a minute to view something else as we don't like to show things that wont be in game anymore) Note: Some of you really need to stop complaining about inverted polys because it is an importer problem not a modeling problem -C76.

Texturing

We have a new flame turret model by vhu9644 which has been favored over the previous concept. Additionally, We have received a lot of feedback relating to the Titan mech shown previously and have decided to lean more towards the KW textures since they seem to be more "detailed". Even though we want to go more towards KW textures, our texture artist is new to texturing and as such we could use some people that have experience in this field. Again, let us know what you think of the model & texture.

Nod Flame Turret

With the help of the community and C&C fans worldwide we can improve the textures and models to a quality that everyone can be proud of. And last, but certainly not least:

Concepts by PizzaAtomica

The new nod harpy just flew in, check it out:

Nod Harpy Sketch

Units

The Fire Scarab: The Nod Assault's version of the flame tank, still as good as the original, but lighter, faster, and cheaper to produce allowing massive quantities to be manufactured.

Here are my thoughts...

On the Scorpion: it's looking a little unbalanced at the back. It looks like the weight of the main gun would tend to lift the front of the tank upward. Extending the treads and suspension toward the rear or moving the entire main body forward a bit would give it a better sense of balance. Other than that, though, the design is solid.

On the Harpy: another good design overall. There are just a few details I'd work on: streamline the cockpit, making it more aerodynamic, and add a rotor in that under-slung tail fin for maneuverability.

On the Flame Tank: same problem as the Scorpion. It seems rather unbalanced toward the rear. Either add some additional legs for support, or reduce the overall size of the canisters--maybe even both. Also, if possible, I think it'd be cool to use the Annihilator Tripod's weapon code to make the flame turrets able to target separate foes.

I think the Flame Scarab should incorporate a third set of legs directly attached to the canisters to support the weight.

I've actually taken that into consideration when developing the model. Its hard to get a good screenshot of a model per say, but in a 360 degree view the wheels balance well against the tail.

Ok, let's get this going :

Textured flame turret - It'll take some time until the texturing becomes good. Let's not rush, take your time and improve on the texture. ;)

Harpy - Now that is a badass air unit, Blizzard high quality! :D

Fire Scarab - It looks kind of nice but it does defy the laws of physics in terms of weight because of the flame cylinder tank is heavy and may result the scarab being belly-up. The old tank style will stop that though. Hope you better not get into the whole EA-cartoony style into this, C&C4 already disgrace us long enough and I bet the hatred still goes on.

We have a long way to go before we hit EA's style, after all, our flame units would have to be able to attack air units then, lol.

I know, being in professional texturing and all that is very very time consuming, just like we saw how Starcraft 2 is delivered, not just serious units, but as well as how quality their textures are.

the texture is good and the new flame tower has a good ts style, but the scorpion tank with no offince i think it is away of being finished,it has no curves which is the main nodish concept factor along all CnC episodes and the oblisk cannon on it is too small,it think it shoud be bigger and i have an idea of making that one on mcvs style so it can unpacks an raising its oblisk of light to give it more range and power also i think my proto type model at my profile 'plz take a look on it' which i made for that mod is better due to holding the last factors i mentioned

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote

SilentMirage

Slow down, the Scorpion is not ready yet as I'm sure of it in terms of the model itself. Drawing sprites on 2D like back in the old days were ok and not that too difficult, but with 3D modeling, it's a whole different story. ;)

Just think if you were a 3D artist, in EA or Blizzard or anywhere, it's a hell amount of work involved even for modeling alone.

2-hand of wrath tank 'finished and delivered'
3-battel bus 'finished and delivered'
4-old flame tower 'replaced'
5-new nod avatar 'still working on it and no renders yet

Why are you going for the same ridiculous style as EA did? ;_;

Shame on you, how can you claim to uphold the tradition of CNC and then deliver ridiculous stuff like this?!?!?!?

We held a poll not to long ago about the texturing on a Titan model we have. Most people voted for "EA's" style, but I think the underlying tone was that it "needed more details", not "needed a more cartoony look". Regardless, we're aiming for high quality work.

I wasn't talking about the number of legs. More like it being a giant, fire spewing bug that magically merged with a droideka (really, those guns...). Y'know, the design on principle.

I don't know what you mean by the guns tbh, however, its not really that large, it is meant to be a drone since all the space is going to be taken up by mechanics and armor.

Reply Good karma+1 vote
-Golan-
-Golan-

The guns are very clearly taken from a Star Wars Droideka render, as seem the legs by the way.

So let me get this straight, we're talking about a man-sized, AI controlled, fire breathing mecha cockroach? Yes, that sounds a lot more like the classic CNCs than a tank-sized, AI controlled, fire breathing mecha cockroach.
Also, the design clearly features a cockpit and entry hatch.

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote

its mech sized, and it was intended to be manned but I figured it just didnt make sense for a person to be laying down in a thin mech with his *** up against giant flame canisters

It *is* EA's design and the model *does* have lots of visible errors. You're asking for feedback, you get it.

Its because of the 3ds max importer >.> I've already discussed this once, so I will not do it again, it should not have a large effect in-game.

Reply Good karma+1 vote
Lazy6pyro

It will have a very distinct effect ingame that will not be pleasurable. Incorrect smoothing groups will darken parts of the model, which serves to visually degrade the entire model. This means that said model will not correctly interact with the lighting and shaders. With poly errors, you can possibly get major shadow bleeds especially if the model has multiple un-welded verts that converge. Poly errors may also have to do with the normals of that polygon, which if the normal is reversed, CnC3 will NOT show any back-faces of polygons.

Don't rely on the importer to make sure everything will turn out perfectly, as it won't. Especially with how the importation works, it is utterly critical for your modelers to fix what broke during import, so that it is A) able to be exported properly as a .w3x and B) doesn't give crazy graphical errors when it is ingame. Using the importer is just a start, a baseline, you need to re-work it from there.

Always, always always make sure all verts that need to be welded are, infact, welded, and that you re do the smoothing groups. It's actually rather unprofessional to leave such basic modeling 101 in your promotional materials. No one can stress enough what it means to have a good render for competence and PR reasons.
