Are you sure you want to have the Gauss cannon as its default armament ?

I mean both Gauss and Rail cannons are electric linear accelerators while the Gauss uses series of electrical coils to accelerate the ferromagnetic projectile(the coils need that most of the projectile reacts with the coil's magnetic field) while Rail cannons use parallel conducting rails that generate Lorentz force upon a conductive frame(the projectile itself doesn't need to be conductive, just a sabot or its exterior need).

The above part is aimed to those who don't know the difference between Gauss and Rail guns

I think an old school chemical propellent cannon would be best, besides when you look up close the Mammoth's cannons do look like the ordinary cannons we see in most tanks.

Well not like this will affect gameplay mechanics but I do like the background.

A gauss cannon won't look much different from a normal cannon. Besides: What screams "SURPRISE, BITCHES!" more than a normal looking pair of cannons that turn out to be gauss cannons? :P

"SURPRISE BITCHES!!"

hahahaha, have to remember that one!

Agree, this looks alot like the Signal-mod version. I like it, but not for GDI.

Well, it's the Signal version with different color and missile turrets.

The old one, still.

Unless you work on the texture some more and remove/modify the wall and antennae on the back of the turret. Modern car antennae are hidden within the frame of the car or look like a small bump. They no longer look like classic antennae.

The cage is staying, and so are the antennae. I always have antennae on my military vehicles, since I like them that way.

Just sayin'. Technology is already going off in a new direction, this is sort of old tech by 2047.

I was of course, talking about the antennae. The cage is fine, just that it makes it look too much like an Abrams.

Every modern tank I know of, with some exeptions, have that cage.

4 small fusion plants? you know how mutch power fusion generates?

that would be more of a moblie power plant.

lol great tank anyway tho man :)

It needs the power for the guns and the engines. And more...

But 4??? lol

Hell seeing as GDI is al about the enviroment i could see them hving a hydrogen powerd tank but fusion plants?

but i dont mean to disrespect, you mod looks beutiful, just my rage nerd i guess.

:)

I know how powerful fusion reactors are. The tank uses 2 for the engines, 1 for the guns, and the 4th is backup.

Any vents for the gasses?

Also, what will happen when one gets destroyed? will it just be a cool looking explosion?

Not much happens, why would there be an explosion with fusion reactors?

The vents are located at the back of the tank.

Well it is atomic energy we are talking about here. :) lol.

...So? The reaction collapses the moment the plasma touches anything, or has any impurity.

for some reason i don't see a fusion reactor beeing small enough to fit in a tank, and i don't think fusion is GDIs tech level, sustaining a fusion reaction hasn't been done today and the signs show it might be many many more decades for it to be harnessed if everything works out good, and considering the current hell in a handbasket of our economy, and deteriorating sence of american democracy working.

2026: First plasma in ITER, not long after that they intend to produce power with it.

Also I don't see Mechs, giant space stations and orbital particle beam cannons happen any time soon. The rate at which tech advances in the Tiberium universe is...at least 5 times the rate it does in reality. Also GDI have the Tacitus.

And lastly: Rule of cool > Realism.

As Helge said: RULE OF COOL

Second: During TW2(AKA Tiberium Sun) GDI and Nod harnessed vast amounts of knowledge from the Tacitus, including the Firestorm tech.

So there, they have a Handwave to explain all fancy stuff.

Hmm, gauss cannons?

I think that normal cannons were better, eventually with an upgrade to the projectiles.

The problem is simple, gauss or railguns dont produce lightning llike effects when fired.Hell, they dont even produce muzzle flash or recoil. You basically have a weapon that ,realistically speaking, is uncool.Of course you might add gasses and fires that are created by the projectile, but in my tries, they looked off.
Of course you may add fancy lightning like ea did, but that kinda underwhelms the logic behind it.At least call it something different instead of referring to reality .Not respecting the rules that are connected with the term in reality creates a feeling of detraction.

"Look at my artillery cannons! They fire laser based plasma napalm nuclear missile bomb rocket projectiles. Heck yeah!!!"

That is incorrect. Railguns have massive muzzle flashes, and the projectiles leave a nice meteor-like trail. A railgun rifle would likely relocate your arm to the next country.

Gauss cannons, firing at very high velocities too in this case, also have intensive recoil.

And as said before: Rule of cool comes before realism. Always.

Description

The Tacitus allowed for great breakthroughs in technology between the second and third Tiberium War. One of the biggest monuments to these breakthrough is the M-28 Mammoth, formerly X-28. The graphene-based hull allows for incredible strength while being only marginally heavier than a Titan, allowing for surprising mobility and speed for a tank of its size. Powered by four small fusion plants, and 16 electric motors, 4 per track and armed with two Missile turrets and twin 250mm gauss cannons it is likely the most advanced tank produced as of yet by the GDI.

The gauss cannons can be upgraded to Railguns allowing for even greater firepower at the expense of a lower rate of fire.
