This is the mutator I created in 2022 to celebrate the Twentieth Anniversary of Thievery, it was/is available through Discord but I am submitting it here for archival purposes.
This is a standard mutator for Thievery for Unreal Tournament.
It includes two versions of the mutator, one for use with vanilla Thievery, and the other for use with ThPlusMod. ThPlusMod is an enhancement mutator to the original Thievery.
Primarily the main idea behind this mutator was to add female thieves and potentially female guards and new male guard and weapon models to the game.
This was because I always thought it a shame not more people were able to experience the female thief taunts created by the late MsLedd of TTLG.com fame for my Thievery Tenth Anniversary modification (also available on ModDB, but this mutator supercedes it as this mutator is fully compatible with the current official Thievery release).
Therefore the above features are the only non-optional changes this mutator makes, however as it kept growing in features, there are now the following additional features which can be enabled or disabled through the configuration file:
- Convert spiders into rats (by request from an arachnophobiac).
- Still allow spiders on Th-Spider,Cult and Arachnophobia since their maps are designed around them.
- Spawn random civilians on most maps.
- Only permit civilians on the coop game mode.
- Set all civilians to ignore players, rather than hating or fearing them.
- Set Nobles to fear thieves while allowing commoners to ignore them.
- Set the maximum amount of civlians allowed in a map.
- Allow larger maps to double the maximum amount of civilians.
- Add guard dogs and horses to certain maps (only if civilian AI are enabled).
- Add a non-invasive (though highly visible, if/when you see them) Easter Egg to the game on Th-Flats.
- Convert spectating players from rats into spiders.
- Allow the ambient water brightness in water zones to be increased to counteract the dark water rendering bug. (cosmetic only).
- Allow the Guard AI settings to be modified to make them more challenging.
As mentioned, there is a version included which works with ThPlusMod. ThPlusMod can be downloaded from the ceski-1 ThPlusMod GitHub repoistory. Note: If using the mutator with ThPlusMod you must remember to rename the .u file to .uu and rename the file with the .plusu extension to .u and that switching between a Vanilla and ThPlusMod enabled server will give a file mismatch error and you will have to perform the rename again depending on the version the server expects.
Currently both ThPlusMod and TH20 are in use on the last remaining Thievery server, and you may or may not have to manually download the files in order to join the server along with the TH20 content pack (available on ModDB) for all the custom maps etc. the server may be running.
The civilian AI are mostly (but not all) voiced by the creative commons (by-nc-sa 3.0) sounds taken from The Dark Mod, their licence and authors list files are included within the archive.
This in combination with Gullonefox's new guard and weapon models (named Thievery Underworld) is why the mutator is called the Thievery Dark Underworld Twentieth Anniversary mutator (as to the filename, CoD stood for Council of Darkness, a since discontinued total conversion of Thievery for Unreal Tournament 3).
A full read me detailing installation instructions and configuration settings is also included within the archive.
ThAux.ini and ThieveryMod.ini are not included in the download.
Yes, you have to modify your existing .ini files since you don't want your own custom settings overwritten, just added to :)
I read this page again and realized this is a mod for another mod, whoops. I thought this was a standalone thing at first. I've never heard of the Thievery mod before, my bad!
I want to disable the new male guard model. It looks out of place. But how ?
From the description:
Primarily the main idea behind this mutator was to add female thieves and potentially female guards and new male guard and weapon models to the game. -- Therefore the above features are the only non-optional changes this mutator makes.
As an aside, the male guard models along with the current TuT thief model were the models BCG chose to use for the Thievery for Unreal Tournament 3 remake (Nightblade Alpha for UT3).
Man, male guard model looks like T800 compared to every other thing. Its too advanced for a UT99 game and don't fit unlike the current thief model.
Please, tell me how to disable it.
"non-optional" You cannot disable it.
Gulonefoxe's new model is not included (the one shown front left on the image here)?
Did not get the opportunity to play it Yet, but according to description the T800 like appearance reminds me of old UT99 Male Soldier model reskin into armour.
Anyway I have to check it to see what's inside the package as I might still have some old yet unreleased modding stuff.
Anyway changing models in-game is possible (but bit tricky) by mutator (little bit of scripting).
hi mcfarrel - the new model is included along with a ton of other changes.
As to your unrealeased modding stuff, you'd be best checking out the thievery content pack in the Files section since it has most of your publically released stuff in it, though some files weren't included as they were corrupt so you may be able to provide them as a new download.
A lot of the old TuT players are on the Discord channel btw (links on BCG forums) not sure if you're there under a different name or not.
