I forgot to ask on teleworlds so i'll just ask here.

How will these pikeman be in close combat ??? In native warband, spears are absolutely useless in close combat, when you try to hit it's like they recoil or something and of course they do 0 damage. Now i can't even imagine what will happen with pikes which are even heavier and longer.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

It's not "How will these pikemen be in close combat", it's "How will you use these pikemen"

Pikes are powerful, you just can't use them in at uber close range. It takes some practice to use them. All weapons will bounce off with insufficient range, pikes just need more.

A tactic I'd use is mix the Pikeman with 'Uruk-Hai Swordsman' This way the pikeman will take down most of the units charging towards you and your swordsman will finish of the rest.

I know it's not in the film, but Pikemen should really be given sidearms (comparable to the short swords in the ancient greek phalanx). i mean srsly, are they supposed to punch people with their hands when the come near?
They'd still not be as good as Uruk-Hai Swordsmen because they don't have a shield which makes them highly susceptible to enemy archers.

Pikemen are useless in very close combat. They are mostly useful to stop a cavalry or or infantry charge, but are vulnerable to melee. Those Uruks are fearsome, I guess you can order them to brace their pikes ?

Why Hobbits? There were very few of them who dared to go outside their own borders. It would not make sense to play as a Hobbit nor a Bree-lander. They are self-center people and care little of strangers. I don't want to see a Hobbit taking down dozens of orcs on his own at Orthanc or Cirith Ungol.

Grima: How?How can fire undo stone so easily? What kind of device can bring down the wall? 'Tries to test it out with his candle'
Saruman: 'Stops Grima as he gives him the expression, best not to find out because it would not be pleasant upclose.'If the wall is breached, Helm's Deep will fall.
Grima:Even if it is breached, it would take a number beyond reckoning, thousands to storm the keep.
Saruman: Tens of thousands.
Grima: But my lord, there is no such force.
'Uruk Hai battle horn sounds.'
Saruman: 'Calms down the chanting.' A new power is rising. It's victory is at hand. This night, the land will be stained with the blood of Rohan!March to Helm's Deep!Leave none alive!TO WAR!
'Uruk Hai army cheers as Grima's candle goes out, he looks with utter surprise.
'Then Saruman's army marches towards the Hornburg.'
