Another Dungeon Siege-based remake, the Ultima 6 Project was formed in 2001 by Sliding Dragon to develop a remake of Origin’s Ultima 6: The False Prophet with newer graphics and a more immersive engine. Soon assembled under the banner Archon, the team members, who hail from all over the globe, have set about recreating the world of Britannia, adding an enhanced storyline to bolster intraseries continuity and building on the Ultima legacy in a way that will please fans new and old.
This is the final version of the Ultima 6 project. Created by Team Archon.

Welcome to The Ultima 6 Project!
Thank you for downloading The Ultima 6 Project. This Readme file contains the most recent information concerning the game. Note that this document is cumulative and includes notes from the 1.0 and 1.0.1 Release.
Issues Addressed by Version 1.1 (and new features)
Important Note: Much of the game has been completely reworked. Due to the nature of many of these changes, previous saved games from 1.0 and 1.0.1 are not compatible with 1.1.
Moongates are now much more stable. Later in the game, as more and more moongate destinations were unlocked, the game performance used to degrade. This now scales infinitely.
The areas that performed poorly as of version 1.0 and 1.0.1 (listed below) should be optimized now, and you should see significant performance improvements.
The dungeon map system has been completely reworked, and some areas may have been slightly changed to streamline the game. We have introduced a new “helper pin” system that you can disable if you want to retain the original level of challenge. (In theory, this indicates the markings that the previous owner(s) of the map may have made.)
The overworld's world map is much more accurate, and the sextant readings are consistent and correct.
Much of the dialog content and logic has been reworked to address several minor bugs and inconsistencies.
Various other bugfixes and optimizations have been implemented.
Known Important Issues (in addition to any issues listed below)
As with all software, there are bugs. Some couldn't be fixed. Here are the important ones that might affect your enjoyment of the game.
・ The moongate system is much more stable now. However, it might be slower than it was before. This isn't just for moongates; there are some cases where the party is teleported in a cutscene (the beginning of the game uses a couple of these, for example), and it uses the same system as the moongates, so in these cases you may have a slightly longer wait time than you might expect.
・ Some items may be “lost” if you teleport with them in your inventory. This especially tends to happen if your inventory is very full and you are carrying large items. In some cases you can recover these items by emptying the inventory of the party member who “lost” the item, and then teleport a few times. Unfortunately this bug could not be fixed due to the way Dungeon Siege handles the inventory.
・ Some players have tinkered with the default game speed for Dungeon Siege, and set it to something other than the default speed of “1.0.” Unfortunately this is not supported by our game; some cutscenes may reset the game speed back to 1.0.
Issues Addressed by Patch 1.0.1
Several potentially blocking problems with NPC conversations have been addressed. All of these problems have workarounds, and may not be found by many players.
One problem was found with a teleporter that makes it so the game cannot be completed. This patch addresses that issue. We do not want to say any more than that in this file as it would be a spoiler. :)
Playing the Game
The controls for the game are the same as for Dungeon Siege. There are a few more uncommon operations with which you might not be familiar, and are necessary in order to play The Ultima 6 Project:
FORCE ATTACK Mouseover target + A key
FORCE SPELLCASTING Mouseover target + C key
SELECT ALL PARTY Ctrl + A
General Issues
Any problem that occurs in Dungeon Siege is likely to also occur in The Ultima 6 Project. We are not affiliated with Microsoft, nor Gas Powered Games, in any way, and therefore have no way of fixing their bugs. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
If you try to Journey Onward without any saved games, the game will politely tell you there are no saved games. If you try it again, the game may lock up or crash.
Some players have noted that you may have to click on an NPC multiple times in order to talk with him or her. This is an intermittent problem and seems to be a problem with Dungeon Siege, and not our code.
Certain UIs do not pause the game, and therefore the party could theoretically "wander" if you click in the wrong place. This could cause problems if you wander too far from the person to whom you are speaking, or the activity you are undertaking.
If you split your party and encounter certain planned events in the game, it could lock up your game.
Pressing the ESC key to skip certain situations, such as trying to skip the animation that is played when your party is camping, may lock up the game.
There may be various and sundry minor bugs throughout the game. Please be kind to us. This is an all-volunteer project. We have worked extremely hard on it for over 8 years and have done the best we could to fix everything we found. While we know the game is not perfect (and no game is), we do feel like we are approaching diminishing returns when it comes to fixing problems, and would much rather release the game to you, our fans, who have been waiting so patiently for so long. If you would like to report problems, you may do so on our forums at:

Performance Issues
The following areas are known to have performance problems on computers with low-end graphics cards and/or slow CPUs:
- Yew
- Trinsic
- Castle Britannia
- Lycaeum
- Dungeon Wrong
- Dungeon Shame
- Pirate's Cave
If you have a large number of saved games in any Dungeon Siege folder, this may seriously impact performance. This is a defect with Dungeon Siege and cannot be fixed by Team Archon. If this is the cause of a performance problem on your computer, we recommend copying any saved games that you wish to keep to a temporary folder, and then remove them from the saved games folder. The location of this folder will vary by computer, but saves from Dungeon Siege will normally be in:
My Documents\Dungeon Siege\Save
Saved games from The Ultima 6 Project will be in a "Save" folder under your installation, e.g.:
C:\Program Files\Team Archon\U6 Project\Save
In addition, if you have installed U5 Lazarus (our sister mod for Dungeon Siege that also uses the Project Britannia game engine), you may want to uninstall it and back up your saved games.
Setup Issues
If you have installed any other mod that uses the Project Britannia game engine, such as the U5 Lazarus mod, you may need to uninstall it, as the resources may conflict with The Ultima 6 Project. You should also make sure that you have uninstalled any previous iterations of The Ultima 6 Project, such as Betas, as they may also conflict. While The Ultima 6 Project may be compatible with many fan mods, we cannot guarantee it, and therefore if you have trouble running our game, you may want to remove and uninstall any additional mods that you have installed before reporting problems.
Thanks!
Thanks so much for supporting our project. We hope you enjoy playing it.
Best,
Team Archon
