A couple of hours ago, I noticed that a new file has been uploaded in the Downloads section. Curious as I was, I went to see what this was about, because in general, I encourage sub-mods, fixes, tweaks, guides or whatever content you want. I think it shows that people lovve the mod and do more things for it and for the community.
But this was not the case with this file. It was a torrent client installer, using the mod's name. It was an illegal thing, that took advantage of the mod and whoever did it should be ashamed. I really don't care if you make use of pirated content(books, games, music, whatever). It doesn't concern me and it's your buisiness. But when you take advantage of the work of other people(however little or big that is) that's a shameful display of character.
As I said, I encourage wholeheartedely the making of extra content of the mod. Everything that belongs to me is Open for usage and everything that is open source is free for all. With that said, I like when I see people make guides, ideas, sub-mods, tweaked file and everything, because that shows love for the mod and appreciation of the effort and myself. If you have sth to publish, whatever that is, I will accept it(unless it contradicts the mod entirely, like space invaders with rifles in Viking Age xD), but I only ask one thing from you: Just inform me. Contact me and then do what you want. All of you who commented or contacted me know that I respond close to all things, but INFORM ME.
Now, most of the members (with positive AND negative opinions for the mod) give support to the mod and I apprecate it(because even when you critisize an error or sth that annoys you, that shows to me that you took the time to evaluate what you see and gave it a second look and I appreciate that). I am grateful to all of you for the support and the respect of the simple rules of common courtesy and good manners you show constantly, it is a source of encouragement even when you scold me. But to people like that man/woman who just take advantage things to promote their interest -and much more an illegal one- that shows something of your character and it's not good.

I'm saddened to hear someone would abuse this content. It's not just a matter of fact that I love this mod, but in general - people who use other's material and credit themselves, are the scum of the Earth. I hope the responsible will be caught and somehow punished. Sadly, there isn't much you can really do on the internet.
Other than that, I'm waiting excitedly for V.2!

Exactly! It's not about this mod(because that upload had nothing in common with it), but this behaviour. On this first occasion, I didn't do anything, but just deleted the file. If it happens agian, I will notify an administrator, becasue piracy is illegal and forbidden in ModDB(as a matter of fact, it's a basic rule of the site).
On a side note, nice profile pic, I had to read your name again to find out it's you and have a laugh!:D

But yeah, I really hope this will be a warning for anyone out there, who could be tempted to do stupid stuff like abusing other people's work for personal gain.
Funny thing is, it wasn't even fir personal gain. What could anyone gain from an installer of a torrent client? It could be a bug, of course, which makes the action even worse.
Could have a keylogger, spyware or such. Many possibilities. The Internet is shady as Hell.
If that is the case, I hope noone executed the file.

I think it was probably a mistake. The download was named for the program itself. Maybe the person had meant to upload something else. But of course, I looked at their page and they had just joined the site o_o
But why upload a torrent installer, of all things? There are many people like this, joining free sites and uploadig spam or illegal content. I am not saying that this is the case, but I would lean towards that option.
Probably an attempt at that. I mean, utorrent itself isnt "illegal" by any means. Lots of mods are distributed on it. I viking'd through downloading Stainless Steel 6.1 for Medieval 2 on DIAL UP with the torrent, took me a year to download

Yeah, probably. That's why I gave them a chance, their motives were not clear. But I hope this won't repeat(not the uploading of the files, everyone is welcome to upload anything relevant here).

He could upload a bug under a false name, or just a random fie for some silly prank, I really don't know.

No, you probably didn't understood. They uploaded HERE, in Moddb, a file under the name of the mod, but it was had anything to do with the mod, it was a pirate torrent client.

every time I try to load the game it allows me to create my character then It tells me it cant load body,grass,sheild all sorts of things like that. do you have a solution to the problem
