Quick heads-up about the mod and some other things.

Posted by on

Greetings Stalkers.

The first part of this news update is about the mod.
Summer has been a little slow on the dev side, I guess sun and warm weather are not driving me that much into the darkness of Stalker game.

So, after setting up the basic logic of Agroprom map, I am back since a while to Garbage map.
I have done some interesting 3D additions, built a couple of new spots.
Now it's time for logic building, spawn points and the logic plus objects attached to them.
I also worked on dialogs, giving the main characters their lines composing the storyline. It's interesting because adding those dialogs opens doors to other dialogs and interactions.
The downside is that it makes me go back and forth to align the storyline through the various maps, to streamline dialogs making sure there is a good logic and continuity all along the way.
I will compile this updated Garbage map in the coming days, and you'll have some sexy screenshots.

The second part of the news is about another topic.
I am facing difficult times on a personal level, and I have to make a priority of making money.
It shouldn't affect the mod dev, it has a reserved place on my schedule no matter what. And it's a very important creative outlet for me, I need that.
But I will try to make money from my 3D / 2D work, so I will probably sell some assets I created for the mod. Not the exact same versions, textures maps would be more generic and suitable for a larger use.
I don't know how people may feel about that, so feel free to comment on this subject. Be sure it's not a treason of the mod or the game spirit, but I need to seriously think about real life problems first.

That's it for today. Good hunting, stalkers.

No worries about the money mate, in the past i've had feelings of drowning in economic problems but i'm sure that you will get out of that as i did! it's a very steep way but if you strive you will overcome the situation! Keep doing the things you love to do!

If you have an opportunity where somebody is willing to pay for your artistic creations then you should definitely go for it! Any reasonable person would understand. Besides, given the consistency of the content that has been posted here, I doubt a few cut assets would ruin the overall experience that is The Journey.

The real life, is way more important than modding, so if people would pay for your work, it would be an excellent thing, especially in these times!

I wish you a lot of luck with it, since everybody needs it, but now you need it, probably more than most of us!

Good to hear back about the mod, don't think anyone will blame you for trying to make some money off of the hard work you've put into this.

Good luck on the mod!

Nobody should fault you for making a little cash for your talents. :D
Heck, I wouldn't care if you sold your textures as-is - you don't "owe" us any special treatment since we're already getting your mod for the low, low price of FREE!

Good job on keeping it up. And don't worry, it's your work so you can earn profit from it.
