This spear, a nearly eight-foot shaft capped with a finely-wrought head, is of the kind used throughout the Kingdom of the Merchants by city guards and by the standing army. As with the make of sword used in that Kingdom the spear features the Earth and Sky design, here present as a cross-guard for the spear's head.
These weapons are usually used in conjunction with a tall shield, but they are equally useful, and some would say more so, when wielded with two hands. Their cross-guarded head can be used not only for thrusting, but for hooking an enemy or his arms.
