I just commented on that other image saying I can't wait to see it finished and then there's this! Bravo, excellent work! I do love the way you've put this together, I should use this method to showcase my own work sometime!

See Archie, goldsource isn't that bad is it? :P

Thanks a lot for the comment, and yeah it's a really nice way to show visible progress - I'll be doing it from earlier in the development process of my future maps.

Goldsource is awful, haha! All the time I'm mapping all I can think is "this would be so much easier in Source".

Thanks again for the comment!

Great dev video. Can you describe how you took those shots - that is, getting the identical location & angle for each map version?

It's nice and easy - just set up the virtual cameras in Hammer and record for a few mins from each angle with each compile. The timing comes down to the edit.
Thanks for the comment!

I would say to do this more often, but it seems like it'd be time consuming. It's neat to see that you guys' thinking isn't so different from mine when it comes to changes in maps, and that it's not an instantaneous-perfect-mapping kind of thing. good job!

What an interesting method of showing the improvement of mapping I really like it. Everybody should do it so from now on. Anyway the mapping is really brilliant in it. For a while I actually thought this has to be source engine why are they stating this as a Hl1 mod. :D First the scientist scene convinced me that it really was gold source. Fantastic graphical improvements folks.

That has the visual quality of Black Mesa's version. Good work guys. I'm being serious, GoldSRC at that level looks great.

Description

A neat look at the design process of Cendark3 - one of my maps for The Core. Note that this video begins when the map is around 2 days into development already, then continues through three days of additions and tweaks.

I really like this method of showing changes, and I'll definitely be doing it on future maps!
