When I put this moddb profile up here we really hadn't decided on a release date yet so when the system asked us for one we just picked one. As some time went by it became clear that is was a pretty good date. We had enough time to become feature complete and still have several weeks of play testing over. With such a small testing-team you really need that extra time. It has been difficult to gather testers but the times we did we always had rewarding results. If it wasn't bugs it was ideas for new features and of course a lot of tweaks.
Anyway, as the release date is creeping up on us I feel that the time we gave ourselves have paid of very well. The game is polished and the balancing is well calibrated. Searching the web for competitors I find that our mod is probably the most advanced Quake III Arena server side mod ever. We have really put a lot of effort into providing feedback to the players through the already available channels.
So, what will happen the first then? For one thing we'll throw a release party of epic proportions... or maybe not so epic, I haven't got a dime to spend. Aside from that I will run at least two public servers from my home, connection is excellent so there shouldn't be any latency issues. I'm thinking maybe one clean and one with bots. Ah yeah, I forgot to mention, I just finished the TnR bot code. The bots now understand the game and play it rather well. That is great stuff since people will want to try the game out without first pulling a band players together. Then maybe when they find out how awesome it is they can call their pals for a real game. Of course I will make available the qvm so that you can all run your own servers. I'll have to look into pk3-packaging right away.
On the 1st, it would be great if there were more servers up and running instantly and not just servers from Europe. If you would like to be a day zero server provider I could send you the files beforehand. Drop me a message here, on the official boards at Lockecole.ath.cx or in the IRC channel #TnR at quakenet.
I would like to make a release video as well but considering I don't have much material to work with I think the timeframe is too small to create something appealing... but maybe, we'll see.
Tanks and Rogues 1.0 will be released 1st September.
