Survival 101 is a Half-life 2 mod that I've been working on for sometime now. The concept for the mod is that of survival/horror. It borrows elements from games such as Resident Evil and Bioshock. Major changes to the Half-Life 2 experience include: realistic weapon damage (no more emptying entire clips into enemies), scarcity of ammunition and health packs, and more of a focus on the horror aspect. The mod features its own story line which will hopefully span at least to the two hour mark.

I just played through the mod, but ran into a few serious problems while doing it:

I reached the part with the dining hall / library fairly easy, but I didn't realize that I had to find supplies on the second floor.
Instead I reached the bottom floor and picked up the bottle. Then continued to the top and got the bomb made. After blowing up the library and listening to the radio I killed the few soldiers that came in. After this nothing happend.
While running around trying to figure out what to do, I stumbled upon the supplyroom. When exiting it I got the message to go down and find a bottle... but I had already done that bit. The game seemed to be stuck here, so I cheated and used changelevel to map 3.

Other comments:
The beginning with the huge amount of zombies chasing you, and its just possible to reach the staircase is great!

At map 3 I was suddenly without my flashlight and HUD.. so I had to cheat quite a bit to get through it. (This error is probably related to the changelevel command, and not a bug in the mod I guess.)

At level 4 (The final level) I was very confused about the story. Had the guy on the radio suddenly turned evil or was it someone else?

The story could use some work. The beginning, why am I here? Is it a school, office, or what? And the sudden change at the end?

I know one of the main things about this mod is scarcity of ammo, weapons etc. But really.... its just not fun smashing zombies with the crowbar for two whole hours. IMHO lots of zombies and lots of shotguns/grenades/flaming barrels is the way to go ;-)

For a "one man mod", its really great. Keep up the good work.
