Command massive armies of tough space marines or nightmarish cyborgs in endless battles across the Strogg home planet.
The deadliest surviving species on Artemis, the witches may have been the dominant life form and the source of Strogg interest in the planet.
Their intelligence is limited, but they coordinate themselves in relentless hives. With primitive oar-like wings and a biology that makes them naturally buoyant and extremely fast, witches also have formidable natural defenses. Chitinous armour and scales make them difficult to kill. Their tails hold fourteen "flechettes" that they can aim at targets up to 85 meters away, and their bodies can radiate a venomous cloud up to 21 meters for additional protection when cornered.
When the Strogg unbalanced the ecology of Artemis and polluted the planet, the witch swarms grew to apocalyptic proportions, engulfing parts of the planet and stripping them of all life, and tearing at what flesh remained on the cybernetic Strogg invaders.
