Stargate - Empire at War: Pegasus Chronicles is a total conversion for the fantastic game Star Wars - Empire at War: Forces of corruption. This total conversion will replace every single Star Wars asset of the original game with Stargate assets. This includes units, buildings, icons, sounds, videos and so much more. Pegasus Chronicles offers 3 playable races, the Ta'uri (alliance between Earth and the Asgard), Anubis (a mighty systemlord) and the Wraith. Beside these 3 playable races, you will meet many non-playable ones like the Replicators, the Asurans, the systemlord alliance, the Aschen, the Ori and many more. Each faction will have several space and land units, well known from the series or completely new ones. Contrary to our first full version for the normal Empire at War, the next release will offer finished GC maps, in which you can play through the known Stargate storylines and experience a lot of never seen missions and adventures.

Hello dear community,
welcome to our first news in 2012!

This time we want to show you what we have changed with one of the core elements of our mod:

The generation of resources, and to be exact, the asteroid mines.

Each faction of our mod will have uniquely designed mines of their own which Wolf has been working on for several weeks:

Wraith:

Wraith Asteroid Mine - W.i.P.

The Wraith use asteroid mining as a means of attaining raw metal material for the biopolymer used to construct hiveships, cruisers, darts and space stations alike. In this purpose they build large, dome-shaped structures linked to smaller amoeba-like tanks and tendrils. There are more than a dozen of extractors that filter the minerals. The ore is then pumped to the central structure where it is converted and processed into a biological biopolymer used for growing wraith ships, buildings and vehicles.

Tauri:

Tauri Asteroid Mine - W.i.P.

The Tau'ri mine asteroids for valuable metals such as naquadah, trinium and neutronium in large mining complexes. Such complexes consist of several conveyors, silos, shelter and personnel accommodations and a command center, which houses a freighter hangar. All buildings in the complexes are connected via tubes in a complicated system running both above and below ground, where the raw ore is mined by large drilling rigs and then transported into storage by conveyor belts awaiting transportation for further processing and refinement.

Goa'uld:

Goauld Asteroid Mine - W.i.P.

The Goa'uld asteroid mining facilities are not just mining facilities, but also large slave camps used for slave labor in the tunnels inside of the asteroids. They are there forced to mine the raw ore of naquadah and other valuable minerals. The minerals are transported from the inner mining complexes of the asteroids to the space port where they are stored to be later transported by means of cargo ship for refinement. Each is governed by a Goa'uld, who manages the day-to-day operations procedures and the rules of the encampments. The manager resides on top of the asteroid in a palace build by slaves in his honor. An atmospheric shield contains a breathable atmosphere in the settlements and protects its inhabitants from the cold vacuum of space. Most of the workers on a Goa'uld asteroid mine are slaves, prisoners of war or disloyal Jaffa of their own.

Additional to the Goa'uld design, we have another picture for you that illustrates what life is like up there for a worker:

Goauld Asteroid Mine - W.i.P.

All models shown are W.i.P. and do not have appear in the finished mod.

Finally, we have another picture for guessing:

Guess the ship V3

PS: Some of you were damn close to it;)

More and even better stuff next month!

Yours SGMG

The Goa'uld shield doesn't encompass the whole structure...

Well, in contrast to the slaves the structures don't need to breathe;)

There is actually nothing to "fix", as the other buildings are sealed and don't need a shield. The shield is just to cover the slaves' huts and the area they are working at.
And, it won't be working as a usual ship shield ingame, so it's just there as an eye catcher, you know?

Why would you want something like that? It would just get people to bitch when it's not moving, when it fills up but nothing is posted etc etc.. There are too many variables in a mod like this to have such a way of measuring progress. There can be fatal errors when something is added, there can be bugs that needs to be solved, maybe the developers' homes are culled by the Wraith.. :p

A model list is one thing, for which you can easily make a percentage bar. But for a complete mod it's just impossible. Yes, you can write down all the features and mark the ones that are done, but there is so much additional work to do. And how would you seperate it? One model = 1 percent? The whole balancing = 20%? You see, it's really impossible as there are countless tasks to do and many which we are currently not planning with (like bugs)

As a former modder myself I know the difficulties which you guys deal with Merlin. Always have respected your work and the team, always will. It will be 3 yrs since the 1.1 patch was released in Mar 09. Patience is what I have a lot of but I think people in general including myself are hopeing for something like a beta skermish space battle to keep us busy for months. I have played every missions no less then 3 or 4 dozen times and the wait is long especially being on the outside and not seeing what is going on. I know what Art of War is saying about people bitching...that will always happen. Last time I asked about progress was over a 1 1/2yrs ago so I have tried, avoiding asking the question =o)
