Federation - Akira-Class

The Akira class is the federation's late game cruisers, this formidable vessel fills the role of heavy cruiser, armed with forward and aft torpedo launchers and forward and size phaser banks makes this vessel quite a beast.

New Akira-class

T
he Akira class is a ship that unlocks relatively late in the research tree, in the game it serves as the most second most powerful cruiser in the federations arsenal. Its mainly focussed on torpedo attacks, sweeping in for the kill with its forward torpedo tubes
delivering a deadly blow to an enemy vessel. This also has a drawback, because it has a lesser amount of phasers its re-fire rate is lower then more rounded out cruisers like the excelsior. When used in numbers the Akira-class can turn the tide in any battle.

Abilities:

Heavy Photon torpedoes: Gives the torpedoes area damage for a short time doing damage to surrounding ships

Battle Refit: This upgrades refits the Akira-class to have a faster phaser fire rate to compensate for its lack of coverage

Awesome video as usual. By the way I'm surprised you folks didn't include the Prometheus class - the one from Voyager that multi vector ship.

It probably would make more sense getting one of that than the having 2 Nebula classes. Perhaps add it after the release in a form of a small patch or ship addition package for each race +1 ship. At least Design wise it fits later on better with the Noways, Intrepids, Akiras etc.

i know right, a few people suggested that, but the modders shot the idea down, i dunno why.its the only ship missing this canon!!! they really need to add it!

While I'm not sure of the reason my guess is if people had the Prometheus, people would start asking for a multi-vector assault mode which, in Sins, would be near impossible to do right. Besides, I think (in the timeline this mod is set in) the Prometheus is still under construction. There are Intrepid-class ships but Voyager either hasn't left yet or has only just 'mysteriously disappeared'. I think. Devs, feel free to shoot me down. I could be totally, utterly wrong.

Simple - its defining characteristic, multi-vector attack mode, isn't viable in Sins. There's nothing even vaguely like it. And without multi-vector attack, its basically just a really aggressive normal ship.

Heheh, I love the Akira class, My second most favorite canon ST ship design, losing only to the beautiful Sovereign.
It just has such a nice design, a lot like the NX class but a TNG era version of it.

Well lets not abandon hope. Perhaps such an idea of a +1 ship patch wont be such a bad idea. The named ship could make a nice support vessel. Borg get either of these forms not used yet: Fun-stuff-to-do.com.. Armada 2 provided more than enough ship types for a dom faction. Romulans surely got some ships left as well from Aramda1,2 SFCIII and same goes for the klingons or any ships from Klingon Academy.

Awesome, though shouldn't only Sisko's Defiant have the cloaking? Only one device was lent, I can't remember if the replacement for the defiant had one tbh.

the replacement had a klingon cloak. One thing regarding the Defiant is that really Sisko's voice aka Avery Brooks. Sounded more like the fake voice from Ds9 the fallen which wasn't the original actor his voice.

As for the Prometheus is was a prototype during the Dominion war. Possible that ships of this class seen action during the Dom war. As for the splitting possibility who cares about that if the Galaxy can't split it's the same issue than it would be for the Prometheus I don't really care I'm sure other's either.
