Ah great, the Nova was fine but compared to some of the others it was lacking textures and polygons. This upgrade will be very noticeable.

ok, love the render, but i'm not excited, in game, the nova is useless beyond being a scout, it has super weak attack and minimal defenses, if it at least had a standard frigates firepower, it would be useful for early game harrassment, but without that, its useless in my opinion. Even if it looks beautiful, its useless beautiful.

In previous version's she had considerable firepower for what she was. In fact in MP a tactic was to build dozens of these and they could blow the crap out of all structures and any defending fleet couldn't catch them at all. Game breaker.

With the 360-degree firing arc common to most Federation ships, the Nova could take on frigates like the Bird of Prey one on one and stand a reasonable chance of victory.

After much pestering, Ambarenya finally got Max to promise to replace the Nova. In Max's words, "It's just a f***ing scout ship!". Nevertheless, a promise was made and we shall soon see the result.

To be fair though, the rest of the Federation's models have grown in quality so much that the Nova was starting to stand out for all the wrong reasons. It's good to see that effort being extended to even the most humble ship in the fleet.

So can we expect a new and improved Robin class in the near future ;)

Now joking aside, are there any plans for a re-texture or re-model of the steamrunner? With this next update every federation ship with a combat role will have been significantly improved upon from the old legacy models and the other initial models except for the Akiri and Steamrunner. I think the Akiri looks perfectly fine next to the new models but I cant say the same for the Steamrunner.

And what about the other races? The Cardassians/Dominion are pure sexiness, the same for the Borg, and with this coming update the federation (minus the Steamrunner) will also have that title. What about the Klingons and Romulans? The new Romulan models in 1.3 highlight how much better that faction could look. Compare the new Buzzard to the Harrier or Shadow, or the Hawk to the Griffin or Falcon and see the difference. The same for the B'rel and K't'inga compared to the other ships in the Klingon faction.

I wouldn't rule anything out (not even the Robin), but I've heard nothing about the Steamrunner.

Max has been giving the Romulans a lot of TLC of late and I know he has plans for the Shadow and possibly the Harrier. I don't know about the frigates or cruisers but I'll be sure to ask him next time I speak to him. There's plenty of time between now and the next update and knowing Max I'm sure he'll keep himself busy as a beaver.

When I spoke to Max earlier this week, he mentioned that he was thinking of taking a look at the Akira. I would assume the Steamrunner would be close behind. The Excalibur will also likely see some kind of update. Apart from those, I don't think there are too many Federation ships that haven't been brought up to standard. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head that might need a little sprucing up (and, by this, I mean minor work) would be:

Oberth
Robin
Antares
C-5/C-7SB
Liberty
Volga

The Oberth will likely get a major facelift for TLY.

As for the Robin, I wouldn't mind replacing it entirely with the Sydney class, but that's up to Max.
