Are you looking for a more narrative experience than endless skirmish missions when playing as one of the many race mods available? If the answer to either of the above questions is yes, then this mod will be of interest to you. The Soulstorm: Strongholds mod unlocks all sixteen Dark Crusade and Soulstorm stronghold maps, allowing you to play them directly from the skirmish menu - cutscenes, objectives and all. More than that, though, it allows you to play using one of the many race mods currently available, in addition to the nine included with Soulstorm. Download and enjoy. :)

Description

Another set of bugfixes for Strongholds. As before, ensure you have v1.7.0 installed (patches v1.7.1 and v1.7.2 are not required but won't do any harm if you already have either of them), then extract the contents of the zip file to your Soulstorm folder, overwriting files when prompted. Full instructions are in the readme as always.

1) The Doomsday Monolith in Coastal Imossa came about because I found some unused dialogue buried in the game files referring to a final Necron Monolith, so I expanded the mission to include this.
2) The Stompas were added to the Rokclaw Mountains because I thought the mission was boring as hell and needed something to liven it up a bit.
3) I didn't think Sama District was boring, but I thought the extra Saints would make things more interesting regardless.

No idea when the next update will come. Depends mostly on whether any more bugs are found any time soon.

So, this mod uses UA units as well? Is it compatible without UA because I bounce between Unification for Single Player and all the Race Mods in it, and Ultimate Apocalypse for Multiplayer and Single Player or the Campaign? (As I downloaded an addon for UA that allows the Campaign for UA) I have also noticed a lot of armies disappear from the Army Painter as I have lots of lore friendly Chapters, Warbands, Craftworlds, Clans etc. Any way to restore them at all?

Sorry about that. Due to v1.7.0 being such a big update, it was pretty much inevitable that a bunch of patches would be needed. I don't exactly have a massive QA team working for me. :P

There's a problem with one of the secondary objectives on Or'es Tash'n. I destroyed the Kauyon Command post, killed the Disciple of Kauyon, and capture the point there, but the objective was still incomplete for me. I've yet to see if a similar problem exists for the Mont'Ka command post.

I tried the mission again, and now the objective worked fine. I have two hunches as to why the script was broken the first time.

My first hunch is that I triggered the script for the Mont'Ka command post, but then went and attacked the Kauyon post, and that somehow broke the script for the second post.

My second hunch is that because I had loaded from a save before, the game didn't like that and the script broke.

I also thought that maybe the faction I was playing as had some influence (I was SoB the first time, Necrons the second), but I doubt that would be the case.

There's also the chance the script breaking the first was a once in a blue moon kind of thing, and there's nothing actually wrong with the code.

I've done a few tests for this, and can't replicate the bug. The Kauyon Command Post objective always gets completed once the building is destroyed.

I was able to identify several critical errors.

The Hyperion Peaks do not run when playing for the Legion of Damned and Space Wolves factions.

The Legion of the Damned bug is actually a Unification issue - I'll have a word with Gambit, should be an easy fix for him.

Space Wolves and Khorne Berzerkers bugs have now been fixed though, thanks for the heads up. :)

Hi, I've encountered a problem with the recent update to the mod. I've removed 1.6, installed 1.7 and all the requirements (including Daemonhunt), and installed a new objective point ss from DH's site.

However, the game crashes right in the middle of the loading screen.

Uggh, I'm sorry to bug you again, Kasrkin, but I've run into another problem.

When starting up a stronghold mission, the command toolbar seen on units is completely blank. I cannot build anything. In addition to this, the stronghold itself will not play. Instead, it plays like a standard skirmish mode.

Make sure you are using the most recent versions of Unification and FreeUI - you can get them from here: Moddb.com

Using out-of-date versions of these mods can cause various problems with Strongholds.

I've encountered a recurring problem with the save system. While the loading and saving itself is fine, loading up a save file causes a Fatal Scar Error to occur within 20 to 30 minutes of continued play. The Fatal Scar Error always occurs within the same time frame, regardless of differences in gameplay, and reloading the file always ends the same way.

This might be something to include in the next patch.

You mean the file scarlog.txt does exist but is empty? Are you sure you're checking the one for the session where the crash occurred (the folders containing the files are named by time and date)? Don't forget you need to be running Soulstorm in -dev mode for the logfiles to be generated.

Only the current version of Renegade Guard is supported. The old one won't work.

Jokes aside, I wasn't aware that mashing ESC right at the very start could cause scar errors like this (I haven't encountered it before). Sorry for that!

Don't worry about it. Just avoid doing that for now (you should be fine if you leave it for just a second or so). A fix for this will be in the next update though.

There seems to be a problem with the renegade guard in the stronghold missions. While i can play them, i cant build any buildings or upgrade my basic unit, all their commands are not there and the right side is just blank.
