Pay attention – things are more complex than they might first appear. Intrigue, subterfuge, and mystery predominate. An ancient machine tainted with human technology, guarded by a vicious pack of Nihilanthi aliens. There are few answers, but many questions. Will they ever be resolved?

This has the quality of level design of Minerva but in goldsrc. I'd imagine that this was inspired by Minerva, which in turn was inspired by Marathon. Good times.

very good design but really difficult on hard

I don't give a damn on how short this map is; it was fun and well made. Adam Foster is really talented at mapping IMO.

bro the keyboard layout? Seems like every mod has bizarre little tweaks that I always assumed were the modder's preferred settings or whatever, but maybe it could be a bug with how odd some keys are. Never bothered to look into it because it was a somewhat annoying, but ultimately inconsequential thing expected of mods that you just deal with. But I just have to comment on the MOUSE2 jump bind. Why? You sonuvabitch got me hopping like a rabbit and getting vaporized in the face as I desperately try to unload that sweet, sweet double barrel. You got me.

Hairless ape? Why is he so mean?

This mod is hard. Brutal Alien Grunt assault after assault. Not afraid to make Xen combat hard, and it only accentuates how not great the alien enemies are. Homing missiles are unfair and feels like a game of chance. Vortiguant spam encouraged campy playstyles. Minimal health and ammo was certainly intense, but became a slog when I repeatedly encountered multiple grunts with <10 health. Cheesing is a requirement.

Gorgeous Xen-scapes. Some great arenas with a wide open, yet detailed feel. Fleshed out maps.

But why does the story have to be so bad? Ugh, this could very well be another adventure in Gordon Freeman's quest, but instead we have Edgelord Eddie over here. Same problem MINERVA has. Shame on an otherwise good mod.

One of my personal favorites. It's short, but extremely well-made. Don't forget to play the sequel, MINERVA: Metastasis, after you're done playing this.

Short, but sweet.

Very interesting maps and decisions it made. Overall pretty cool, but wayy too many enemies and not enough ammo.

Extremely unique mapping, has atmosphere and detail that impressed me quite a bit.

Well balanced, but wish I could see what I was doing sometimes. I understand that the map is something of a puzzle box, but would be nice to have a little more in the way of pointers.

Same with my review of MINERVA, the text is somewhat hard to read while playing and I think that I missed some things. Written nicely though so at least its something I want to read.

Not too long but a nugget of great quality. I recommend very much.
