Adds maps set on various planets and moons throughout our Solar System to SWBF2's Instant Action. Both stock eras include new sides with enhanced visuals and sounds, as well as new hero units. Supports Mass Effect era if installed.
This full version has been archived by the uploader because it is out of date and no longer supported. We recommend you browse the file list for the latest full version.
** COMPLETELY STANDALONE, DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY PREVIOUS VERSION ** - Many people think Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer should have been more similar to Battlefield or Battlefront with large-scale epic battles and the like; Mass Effect: Unification does just that.
Release Notes:
- Wondering why there isn't a separate version for Retail/Steam? The reason why is because the installer now detects your game's installation directory based on the game's registry entry. In other words, the installer is compatible with all known versions of the game, retail and Steam included.

RELEASED: Wednesday, October 1st, 2014
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Run MassEffectUnificationSetup_r5_standalone.exe and follow the on-screen instructions to install.
2. After the installation completes, the Configuration Utility will launch. With this tool, you can perform various operations including, but not limited to: toggling the mod on or off without uninstalling it; determining whether Shepard’s class should be a specific class or randomized; enabling and disabling AI heroes; and changing which GUI is used (i.e., the new, red or blue menus). This tool can also be launched from the “Mass Effect – Unification” Start Menu folder.
3. Launch Star Wars: Battlefront II and enjoy playing the updated release of Mass Effect: Unification!
(Note: Select the Mass Effect era in the Instant Action map list to play the Mass Effect: Unification matches.)
MD5 Checksum: e5a6a402b9d0c78d1f1e38ec3f1d4c2d
HOW TO VERIFY A FILE'S INTEGRITY USING MD5 CHECKSUMS:
1. Download md5sums, unzip the archive and open the folder.
2. Copy md5sums.exe and paste it into the folder in which MEU's installer is located.
3. Drag and drop MEU's installer onto md5sums.exe and wait for the program to run.
4. Compare the MD5 sum with the MD5 Checksum given above. If they are not identical, you need to re-download the MEU installer - otherwise, the installer's integrity is fine and the installation should run smoothly.
UN-INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Open your Start Menu.
2. Go to Programs / All Programs, and find the Start Menu folder called “Mass Effect – Unification”.
3. Select the folder and inside it, select “Uninstall Mass Effect – Unification”.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions and let the uninstaller run.
5. Play something else, weirdo.
NOTE: Uninstalling Mass Effect: Unification will restore the original stock shell (including the music).
THE STORY:
In summer of 2010, I played the demo for Mass Effect 2 after seeing it on Steam – I immediately then ran out and obtained a copy of Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 for the PC (because console shooters are dumb). After completing the first game, I thought to myself, "Huh, certainly there must be a Mass Effect mod for Star Wars Battlefront II!" After failing to find such a mod, I completed my first map that I had been working on since February of that same year; I started working on the Sol Map Pack, released the pilot map, and in around July of 2011, I started the gargantuan project we all love and know as “Mass Effect: Unification.”
THIS MOD CURRENTLY FEATURES:
- a massive amount of specially hand-crafted assets specifically tailored for this mod. This would not have been possible without the help of The Nasal Abyss, Scott_W.Pilgrim (agentsmith38), THEWULFMAN, AQT, Gametoast, and Frayed Wires Studios.
- support for all stock land maps minus Endor.
- three custom Mass Effect maps: Eden Prime, the Prothean Skyway, and Virmire.
- external support for a_speck_of_dust’s Lotashi Z: X Province! (Note: The map must be installed in order for it to show up in the Instant Action roster.) Alternative download link in case GameFront does that thing it does.
- WAY too much content to list here.
WHAT MORE TO EXPECT:
- Various patches and hotfixes that correct bugs and add small features.
- "DLC" expansion packs that will include new maps, modes, campaigns, sides, and more.
MOD NOTES:
- Single-player matches on all maps have random side variations and random Shepard hero classes whereas multi-player matches have a preset variation and Shepard class (per-map specific).
- All maps minus the Prothean Skyway - which has Team Deathmatch and 2-flag CTF - support the Conquest mode and most maps support either 1-flag or 2-flag CTF, which, by the way, is INCREDIBLY fun and difficult (especially Hoth). Some maps with a large number of command posts (typically six or more) support the brand new Siege mode.
- A new save profile called “MEU-Newcomer” is installed along with the mod; this profile is configured to enhance your playing experience with recommended game, audio, and control settings. While using the MEU-Newcomer profile isn’t required, it’s most certainly recommended.
- This mod adds 40 missions to the game's runtime heap.

Great, downloading.
For the first time in forever.
No, don't you dare or I will go full biotic on you man.
THERE'LL BE MUSIC!
THERE'LL be lights
So i dont need battlefront either? ive had a history of confusion when installing this mod.
Battlefront 2 is the only thing required. Anything else required for this mod to work is included in its installation.
So it's not truly "standalone"
It's says standalone because it doesn't require any of the previous updates
To clarify: Standalone means it's its own thing. It doesn't replace anything(but in this case it does) but adds something.
It requires a base game to run on. Hence the name "standalone"
@N00bst0rm you get my karma point sir.
Gosh dangit. I uninstall SW BF2(for HD space), and now the only 2 SW BF2 mods i follow have a release.
Guess i gotta go find the discs...this looks way too pretty to miss out on.
It's on Steam for cheap too, if you don't mind steam. I had to get it on Steam because the discs got all scratched up. :C
It rained a ton the other day, my internet is so slow. This is gonna take ten and a half hours to download D: I'll grow old and die in that time.
A better naming would have been "full version" rather then "stand alone" which typically implies NOTHING else is required :)
well mods always require a base game to run on. Standalone in mod terms usually means includes all previous patches.
There shud be a reaper faction and galactic conquest extension. then id never play anything else :D
so does this require the game?
Yes.
I think yall should try and make a campaign to go along with this, it doesnt even have to follow Mass Effect since yall have already changed quite a bit. Make up one please, i would love to see one!!
You should add Cerberus with the illusive man as the hero...
Cerberus is planned. ;) Illusive Man as the hero though? We'll have to think about that...
Why not make Species based factions? Asari, Turian, etc?
Would allow you a lot more room to play around with.
No, It should be Kai Leng
what about kai leng as the hero?
This mod is fantastic. It really feels like a whole other game in itself. Props to the team who developed it. One question though, will there be the possibility of an optional first person view in the near future?
Thanks! :D
In the *near* future? Don't count on it. More like in the *eventually* future.
everytime I download this it says the publisher could not be recognised and wont open and if I try to open it in WinRAR it says the file is broken or damaged please help the Halo mod was cool but this has so much more! :D
Hmm. Verify the installer's integrity using the tutorial I just injected into the description above entitled "HOW TO VERIFY A FILE'S INTEGRITY USING MD5 CHECKSUMS".
When I download it I never get the EXE file It says only "PART" file.
That means your download isn't finishing properly or at all. Just keep retrying, it'll work eventually.
I cannot get this to install to save my life. The installation runs just fine until it tries to open the configuration utility, then suddenly it can't find config.xml and everything grinds to a halt. Any suggestions? I still love this mod and really want to blast it on the new computer!
*Technically* the Config Utility isn't necessary to run the mod, it just enhances the gameplay experience.
What is the full installation path of the mod? e.g., C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\addon\ME5
Also, here is the troubleshooting information from the app's help file:
Troubleshooting
If your game data is in a different location, you will need to update this location for the program to function properly. IF YOU ONLY SEE A MENU BAR AND A BUTTON, IT'S BECAUSE THE PROGRAM CAN'T FIND CONFIG.XML, OR THE FILE IS CORRUPTED.
If you use this tool to correct the location of the directory, and the program still isn't working properly, try selecting 'Refresh Tabs' under the 'Tools' menu. If the program still isn't working, it means some files are actually missing and need to be regenerated (see: Generate Missing Files), or another default location is incorrect (i.e., try using another tool in the 'Tools' menu).
Does this work with the steam version?
Yep! :D
Having difficulty getting it to work on the steam version of Battlefront 2. Then again I haven't launched Battlefront II yet and that may have something to do with it.
How do you know that you're having trouble getting it to work if you haven't launched the game yet?
Doesn't work for me at all. When I launch the configuration utility, everything is greyed out, I can't change anything.
I uninstalled the mod but the menu sounds have not reverted back. Any idea how I can fix this?
Sure. What are the steps you took to uninstall the mod? Everything should have uninstalled properly if you ran the uninstaller from the Start Menu.
same with me, I ran the uninstaller and the music is still there
Open up Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\data\_lvl_pc\sound, take a snapshot of the folder's contents, and post a link to the image here, please.
Cl.ly
Cl.ly
i couldn't fit the whole thing into one pic
Alright. Delete shell.lvl, then rename shell_OLD.lvl to shell.lvl.
Chances are it was an issue with the batch file I wrote that's supposed to automate the above process, and Windows 10 probably uses a slightly different syntax for batch files.
it worked, thank you. :)
Okay, the configuration utility crashes upon start for me. Am I doing something wrong?
Could you be more specific? What exactly happens and when?
when I try to install patch it just says the folder name is not valid
Interesting. Could you please post a screenshot of this error? Also, what's your game's installation directory?
Oh, and which OS are you running?
