Re-Use In Other Mods
--------------------
All shaders may be used and all core game assets converted herein to PBR may be used in full or in part as needed. Expansion style mods can simply stack on top of this base mod and convert their unique assets to the PBR format without having to worry about everything else. Total Conversion mods are invited to simply incorporate whatever textures they still retain from the core game as needed.
We do ask that you include credit when using the base mod assets, in full or in part as follows:
Shaders & remastered Skyboxes: Jon Micheelsen
Any updated textures or meshes: dolynick & Ironclad Games (original work)
Would the 1.94 opt in cause problems with this?
Not to my knowledge. It doesn't change any files likely to be affected by 1.94.
Thank you!
Just tried it and got a minidump, will experiment more later, tired and don't have the energy to keep trying, sorry :)
That sounds odd. I will have to take another look at the 1.93 vs 1.94 diff files. I don't recall there being anything in there that would cause a minidump.
I expect 1.94 is going to go live any day now. So if there is an incompatibility, it will likely get sorted out very shortly.
There is stuff I have to do today and I must rest but I will check if it is on my end later, if all goes according to plan.
Problem had nothing to do with your mod it was just 1.94 crashing when set to occupation victory, I think, I may test it some more later.
Yeah it works fine as long as occupation victory is not set, though when I first started a map I was blinded by the light from the sun shining right in my eyes! Granted, that is realistic, but is a pain to play, if you could reduce that glare I would love to play this, but otherwise I will pass, at least for now :(
Glad you got it working.
If the current settings for bloom & post processing are too much for you, you can simply turn them off in the Effects options. They are most likely going to be adjusted at least a little bit but that won't happen until the next release.
Oh, the ships were gorgeous, make no mistake, but I will wait until the next update before fiddling with bloom and post processing, I would think it would compromise how beautiful the rest of the mod is and my heart aches at that. Thanks for the hard work :)
I'm not suggesting you fiddle with the shader mechanics. I'm just saying you can shut the bloom & post fx off using a game menu option if you don't like them. Disabling Bloom & Post doesn't disable the PBR shaders. Bloom & Post are just added effects on top of them.
Turning shadows right off is what will flip back to the old shader at the moment, and should be avoided.
Ah, my apologies, still, don't like them is a strong word, I just wish it wasn't applied to suns so I don't accidentally blind myself, but yeah, I guess then I will give it a shot, maybe the effects on the ships will not be so bad?
I'm sure there will be people who don't like the post effects in general. They are more of a high contrast, movie-like visual. It's perfectly valid to prefer not using them. Things will just be duller and true-er to the actual textures, and there won't be any fancy bloom lighting up the screen.
Even if we adjust them, they're still going to be "bright" because that's what they're supposed to do. It's mostly a matter of what is the right amount. You may never like the post fx for that reason. You can still enjoy the new shaders without them though.
Cool, thanks!
Tried a couple of games without bloom and post and I enjoyed it a lot, thanks!
